Totally apart from the merits of sports, these teams I found just really likeable and endearing:

Northern Ireland (those fans, just great)
Iceland
Republic of Ireland

I seem to have a (surprising myself somewhat) penchant for the northwest of Europe.

Us Belgians now have a clear path to the semi's (at least  ;)), 1/8 against Hungary, 1/4 against winner of Wales-Northern Ireland

And we germans would face spain or italy in the 1/4 (if we win the 1/8), which is totaly not funny.

CR7's first goal was superb yesterday.

And I love how England, Northern Ireland, Wales + Ireland went through.

I'll hold against that. Not sure how the final will look like, but Croatia v. Italy….naw!

From a football purist point of view they have been by far the best two teams thus far. Don't forget that Italy made 9 changes against Ireland and Croatia conceded against the Czechs after an impromptu firework display.

I won't discount ze Germans, but everyone else looks very beatable.

Hrvatska moja!
Croatia is definitively over all other after the group phase. Technically it is really brilliant. They play very vertical. Lot of talent. If they make it. Modric will be not so far away to get the ballon d'or[emoji12]
4 more games to the win…it is a long way...

Yesterday's highlight:

The German team for the first time looked like a potential champion today against Slovakia. It won't be easy in the really tough half of the draw, the quarterfinals next against either Spain or Italy would not be unworthy of the grand final. But the Mannschaft has made a mark today, and is clearly one of the teams to beat for anyone who wants to lift the trophy.
