IHSH-62-BLK - 12oz Wabash Western Shirt - Black
-
I would appreciate any guidance I can get from anyone who owns this shirt?
-
If you cannot afford any shrink in these shirts, do you recommend dry cleaning (or will that adversely effect fading)?
-
Will cold wash and drip dry prevent shrinkage or is dry cleaning the only option for a fat man?
-
Is anybody ironing this shirt? (I've never ironed an IHSH, but this material looks like it will show wrinkles rather than creases with wear.)
Thank you!
Hi.
I have the indigo version. Which is effectively the same. I also have a vest in the black and some (loads) of other IH wabash, including trousers so I feel qualified to answer.
1. Just wash an 30c at low speed or hand wash in lukewarm water. You'll get no or minimal shrinkage (the kind that disappears with wear). No need for dry cleaning.
As for fading that happens with abrasion and agitation. IH wabash fades slowly but beautifully with wear and gentle washing but it's abrasion that really creates wear. I have no idea what dry cleaning will do.
2. Cold wash/drip dry is the way to go.
3. No need to iron - hang dry (drip dry) or dry flat, you'll be fine. You can stretch the seams of the shirt while it's damp and pull the fabric to get rid of any creases. This will also retard shrinkage. This is what I do and I've never had any problems with wrinkles or creases.

I also have the indigo version, and I've ironed it a few times with no problems. It's not really necessary, unless having the hem roll up bothers you (as it does me).
-
Roll up bothers me, also I have found that ironing doesn't really help but I have noticed that my short sleeve shirts with the bigger hem do not roll up so the shirts that are long enough I get a bigger hem in the back, problem solved. Give it a try.

I want to cop this so bad but im right in between a L and XL and dont know which one to grab….
Anyone else here roughly 190 lbs, 5'11, athletic build and have this shirt?
-
I'm 6'0", 185 lbs and the XL worked pretty well when I tried it on. I think the Large might be a little constricting for you.
-
Thanks bud, I was leaning towards the XL so that is what I ordered.

A little late but I think you did right. You need to factor in a little shrinkage as well.

Me too, the more I thought about it, an XL was the way to go. especially for the winter time when I start drinking some heavier beers and get up around the 200-207lb mark. This will be my firts IH shirt so Im pretty stoked. Ill report back when I get it on how it fits. Thanks everyone!

I like this shirt, but the one thing that is preventing me from purchasing this are the buttons. I sort of do not like the push buttons. I like to have them more sort of a formal button that is found in the dress shirts. But anyway this is such a lovely shirt!
I could not find any denim shirts from Iron Heart that sort of has the formal button style?

Hi Joe.
I assume by "push button" you mean snaps. The above links are to work shirts which have good old fashioned buttons with buttonholes and not snaps. If you look at the detail pictures on the product pages they will illustrate this. Both the 68 and the 62 are lovely shirts by the way.

Oops! I might have overlooked it. Yes, I love the IHSH-21-blk! Any ideas as to how these fade over years?
-
Just copped one as well courtesy of @mpukas an XXL which fits me well.
Great Shirt and another IH classic.
