Simmons Bilt

I would seriously consider Clayton…...
So if I understand the (new to me) terminology - Clayton gives the best of both worlds. I can get the Burgundy FQHH in a Veg tan leather that is only slightly less thick than the Warhawk and about the same as Shinki?

Great fit, looks really good! @xtcclassic

That's about it. @Sam has a Clayton café in black, it's a beaut….... And the Shinki (called variously, Shitsi and Stinki in Japan, that's how much it is "revered") is like USD160 more for the same jacket.....
well that quickly made my choice… and the words "Water repellent" describing the Clayton leather helps me a bit as well. Thanks!

Much better fit Xtc.

Pretty much perfect @xtcclassic !
Congrats Sir….. -
@Appfaff, since you were looking for an IHAL-01, keep in mind that the IH sizes are lower than the Alexander / Simmons Bilt sizes to maintain consistency. So, an XL IHAL-01 would correspond to a Simmons Bilt 44 rather than a 42. ( @Giles, am I understanding that correctly?)

Ok. Finally decided my next big purchase will be a SB leather jacket and wanted to get some of your thoughts on the different leather options.
Options I am looking at: Burgundy Hoween Warhawk FQHH / Shinki Chocolate / Horween Chromexel Steerhide Brown
I love the Burgundy and the fact that it will essentially match everything, however, not sure I should go a more classic route and get a brown or chocolate offering. I know Black is out contention because I simply would not wear it as much.
Thoughts on those you you that have any of these offerings in a SB jacket?
Thanks!
Mine is the chromexcel steerhide. This is the first real leather jacket I've owned, so this is the only leather that I have any experience with. It's a beautiful leather no doubt, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it. Just know that it is very heavy and fairly stiff although not as stiff as the horsehide from what I hear. It does seem like it will break in in a reasonable amount of time. Regardless, a slim fitting jacket in this leather may not be for everyone, so it may depend on the cut. That Clayton horsehide sure looks nice for a lighter option.

@Sam would it be too much to request a photo of your SB Cafe Racer?
Many Thanks!

Hey @Appfaff
Apologies for the delay on these. Back is much better now thanks… was most probably a spasm but i'm banned from lifting heavy boxes for the time being. (my only form of exercise) Thanks for the well wishes @CutlasshoundHere is my SB jacket, it wasn't made for me but it was close enough. I do love it and it got a good beating back when i was riding a lot. It's been used in all weather too… mostly rain.
