Time For a New Jeans Cut….
-
these bad boys in the 16oz black denim pretty please. This sounds like a cut i'll be waaaaay into. probably my two favorite cuts are the 301 and the 634. I wish the 301 had the rise of the 634 and that the 634 had the taper of the 301. I like the 633 as well but it seems like that got tweaked some from the original iteration.

This fit sounds like a winner. If by some miracle the denim is made again I'd love to see a grey 16 or 21oz version.
-
Would love to see that 16 oz SBG denim in basically every cut…especially the 634/633

…as well as a 717 or 711 chino...

OK, I know I'm late to this thread, but I've giving my $0.02 whether you want it or not;
You guys need to take a serious look at this LVC release, the 1976 501;
http://unionmadegoods.com/product/levis-vintage-clothing-1976-501-jean-in-rigid/The measurements and proportions are great. But in particular, pay attention to the size of the waist band, size of the belt loops, placement of the watch pocket (yeah, it's a watch pocket not a coin pocket. Who ever put coins in there? No one. It's for a pocket watch on a chain), and proportions and placement of the front pocket openings.
One of biggest gripes about my 634-HXS is the waist band is too narrow, the belt loops aren't tall enough for a wide belt (I wear a 1.75" belt and can't get the doubled end under the belt loop; not a problem on any other brand of jeans I own/owned), the watch pocket is placed too high (not that it's useful for anything anyway), and the front pocket openings are too high and too small to be useful. Pocket bags are also not deep enough, and when I do manage to get something into them, the item sits at the hip crease, as opposed to the upper thigh.
Looking forward to the new release! When? Cheers. mpp

Oh wow, those look great @mpukas. Thanks for posting. The measurements do look pretty good. I also agree with some of your statements regarding the pockets and pocket bags on the 634.
I might have to pick up a pair of these Levis.
-
I put coins into the fifth pocket.
Who wears LVC? No one. Really. -
^ditto. On both counts.
And mpukas, you sure your talking about IH634's? I wear 9oz Tandy Belts and not only do the belt loops accommodate them but my badge and keys as well in my 634s-b's. And for my xhs and b0uhr's for that matter. I too wear 1.75" wide belts. Pics when i get home.
-
i've never had an issue with beltloops either and i wear wide belts too. as far as pocket sizes go…. i was always under the impression that they were smaller so things wouldnt fall out while riding motorcycles.

285 is a lot for some 12-13oz Cone. Didn't pay attention to that price tag.
As for the construction and hardware I can't speak on that as I've never owned a pair of LVC's but I would imagine both would be of a higher quality than a pair of 65 dollar STF's. Could be wrong though.

I know that Iron Heart will not be seeking inspiration from LVC or any other brand for the new cut. It's an original based on the materials, skills and measurements required from Iron Heart, and by Iron Heart

The last time I checked, and I've been wearing these for nearly 20 months for the DWC, the patch says 634-XHS 25oz.
The belt loops are too short to be able to put the doubled end of the belt + buckle hardware through, so the belt buckle is off center. The top of watch pocket is at the bottom edge of the belt, so it's inaccessible, therefore useless. The front pocket openings are too high and tight, and it's difficult to get my hand into.
Granted, I've always felt these are a size too small. I was a bit leaning from a highly restricted diet experiment when I got these. Now I'm over that nonsense, and back to my usual bulk. They measured a size smaller than tagged size. I'm ready to move on from these…

My intention of posting the LVC's wasn't for IH's inspiration. Wait a minute.. maybe it was… but not necessarily... it's just an example for discussion. Personally, I could care less about historically accurate repro anything. But if anyone is making 5-pocket, button fly denim pants, they are in fact making some version of some version Levi's 501, then it could be argued that at some level they are in the business of reproducing jeans.
Jeans are the original work wear clothing, intentionally functional. If the basics of belt loops and pockets can't be produced to be functional for today's uses, in favor of some tunnel-vision aesthetic, then it's a failed effort on some level, regardless of how sic the fades may be.
