Pure Blue Japan (PBJ)
-
Just picked up a pair of xx-005's from Blue in Green. First soak complete and ready to take them into the store for hem. I soaked in lukewarm water and there has been pretty minimal shrinkage. I've had them on for about 40 minutes now and they're already breaking in and getting more comfortable.
Question: Does anyone know how much dye comes off of these? There doesn't seem to be much dye on this pair. However, along with the denim I also picked up a tan Studio D'Artisan wallet from BIG and I'd hate to stain it right away.
Cheers.

I assure you that your wallet get stained with every new pair of raw denim

Has anyone here had any experience with PBJ AI001 or AI002, I looked at a pair the other day; the denim on these is truly insane, I've never seen anything like it!!If it wasn't for the price I'd have a pair http://shop.dc4.de/pure-blue-japanbrai-002br100-natural-indigo-p-480.html

I agree, these caught my eye lately, too. Forbidden has one for the Heavyweight denim contest. What bums me out is the low crotch on most PBJ and that AI seem to fade very slow if at all (and the price of course!)

I have both models, I could not resist when I saw them at BIG last Summer and fucked up my credit card. The A001 is a bit too loose and not tapered enough for me. The A002 is perfect. Both models have the best fabric I've ever worn. I like the A002 pair almost as much as my IH 634Sr's.
PBJ is very nice overall. I love their indigo od'd 009 (or is it 007) slim straight model and cant wait for their 24oz version to come out.

That's quite a recommendation! Are they as hard to fade as has been suggested?

I dont wear them often enough to have faded them, IH pants keep me busy! They are almost like trophies for me… Crazy. Except Im wearing my 02's today. Lovely fabric.

I have the 005 in size 33 now. Waist is just a tiny bit loose (.5"), but the rest is a good fit, not too tight or loose in the thighs, just about right.
I can't decide to get the AI-001 in size 32 and stretch out the waist…. or the AI-002 in a size 34 and shrink the waist.... but I think all the AI come fully shrunk like the 634SB. I love the slubbyness of the AI and the COLOR, the color is incredible in real life. Take5 only had the AI-001 in 34 and it was too loose in the waist and thighs. Really want to try the AI-002.
Any plans on IR making a jean with great texture in a natural indigo? Until discovering the color of natural indigo, I didn't know what I was missing!

Pretty sure that both AI models are one-wash, so it'll be hard to shrink them. It would probably be better to get the smaller size and stretch it out.

thpcgr, I think the colour has more to do with the dying process and the cotton threads than the indigo, synthetic indigo & N.I. are chemically identical.
there is unmeasurable impurities in natural and it's these small factors that makes the difference. it's like having natural egg and powder eggs, its just not the same.
i have had the same batch cotton both rope dyed in Natural and Synthetic. [only 20 dips] IMO there is a world of difference in terms of richness and how it wears/fades or doesn't.

close up of denim texture and fading at around 3+months of wear, on pbj xx013

Based on my personal experience, I'd stay away from the 01 and go for the 02 instead, the cut seems a bit more tapered on the 02.

PBJ's 24 oz models are pushed back a month to end of March, goddamit…
