Many thanks everyone - I had a great holiday.
Instead of driving back 11 hours with two 2 year olds on Friday, we opted to visit our friends in Houston. It made the drive there about 4.5 hours (plus the unavoidable traffic) and only 8 hours home on Saturday. It was a life saver, but we were all ready to get home after a week away.
Some highlights of our stop in Houston
Gifts for “the kids” lol
Avery happy to be home
Yesterday we spent the day cleaning up and clearing some rubbish from 2017.
Still trying to find a place for the xmas haul
Had donuts this morning
I’ve had a nagging cough for a week…
My wife Made a breakfast casserole for the adults
Rocking the ODL
And now getting some work done before it’s back to reality tomorrow
Hope everyone has had a great start to 2018.
Thanks for hanging with me for a few updates this far [emoji41]

Great leg Adam.
I’m hoping to decide which jacket I want after my leg with this bad boy. Idk if I can wait though

@Appfaff great start of the tour! Do you know what that rothschild would have cost on the market? Even if i dont know much about wine i think this should be a very expensive one…
Oh and the jacket looks fantastic. Would love to see a fee closeups of the fabric. -

Oh and the jacket looks fantastic. Would love to see a fee closeups of the fabric.Thanks Max - we looked it up for fun, and bottles ranged from $800-$1800 depending on the location of the auction house. We have had some of the other “banner years” before and I will admit to preferring the 1987 and 1992 vintages a little better, but perhaps the complexity that exists in the 85 is why it’s sought after.
EDIT: I’ve found some places that sell it for well under 800 bucks, but usually something is wrong with the label or the cork has completely decayed and a good deal has evaporated. Insane to think the stick on our bottles said $64 lol
I’ll get some more pics of the jacket for sure!

Totally missed this the first time around- Funky Gold Mosaic is fantastic, isn't it?
Man, it was so good. I’ll be searching for it in Alabama. I am kicking myself for not getting the rest of the line at HEB when we were in Houston - Pearland had an amazing selection

Honestly, it’s probably lost on me, but then again I think it would be lost on 99% of people. I have a friend who is a sommelier and he geeks out whenever I send him photos of stuff we have found, but I am not educated on wine enough to know much more than common knowledge. I will admit it’s fun to do a little digging and see what’s the story behind the bottles though.

A couple years ago A friends father opened a bottle of this for thanksgiving and it was excellent. Def wastes on me but I really appreciated it.

Sounds like we are in similar boats @matty123 - I consider myself of “good taste,” although I would never spend the $$ on a bottle, I thoroughly enjoy when it’s shared making friends and family - good wine, food and beer have always been a focal point of conversation within my family, so it’s nostalgic in a sense.

So it turns out organising a schedule for a jacket tour with 18 participants is tough. The problem in the main is that we're all northern hemisphere and most of us live in temperate/rather chilly climates, leaving the issue of what to do in the winter. Also some of us will be waiting a loooong time before seeing the jacket. The jacket is going through the US, over to Germany, back to the UK, up to Norway then back to the US again in the course of the next 18 months. Alex and Giles will have to hope for a clement British winter in a year's time. But hey, it's already looking like a great tour, so it's up to each of us to make the best out of it. Layering up or down will be the way to go.
EDIT: 8th May 2018 - Schedule changed:
@Appfaff - US - January 2018
@JDelage - US - February 2018
@Fadez - US - March 2018
@Matty123 - US - April 2018
@steelworker - US - May 2018
@Aetas - GER- June 2018
@Cole - GER - July 2018
@Max Power - GER - August 2018
@Jordan23 - GER - Sept 2018
@Megatron1505 - UK - October 2018
@Alex - UK - November 2018
@Giles - UK - December 2018
@bryaneidins70 - UK - January 2019
@tmg - UK - February 2019
@spitfiredealer - UK - March 2019
@neph93 - NOR - April 2019
@scooter - US - May 2019
@DrBabyhorse - US - June 2019
@DK - US - July 2019In case Americans, Brits or Germans wish to organise meet ups/in person handovers, I'm perfectly fine with small changes to the schedule within your respective countries but I ask that you do the following: Organise it amongst yourselves via PM and then let me know the plan. As long as I can see that it works out I'll make the changes here.
Thanks to @Appfaff for the great kick off and thanks again to you all for getting involved and making it happen. Let's enjoy ourselves.
