Last few days have been fun, but busy.
Friday night, my wife had to work late, so the kids and I watched movies and had fried rice and “nachos” (just cheese on top of chips lol)
After the kids went to sleep, I had a martini
I took some photos of the jacket because they had been requested. The OD is crazy On this - so many different shades of black, purple and blue. My wife hardly notices my IH wardrobe, but even she agreed that this is super nice:
Yesterday, we had a rare “twin free” evening and went to a “new to us” restaurant in one of the historic neighborhoods of Mobile. They partner with the local culinary school, so prices are less than other upscale restaurants in the area because they have 2-3 student chefs helping in the kitchen at all times.
I had the “midtown sour”
Crab soup and ceaser
I had the duck and my wife had the pasta
Triple chocolate brownie
Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Thanks guys -
Last few days have been hard to get back to the grind for a full week, but here are some highlights.
Took the Land Cruiser to get a bath
Rocking the Lefty
Wife made Chilli, so I went Texan with it and made “frito pie” - does Europe have Fritos?
It was nasty and rainy out yesterday but we had a good workout programmed at the gym
Broke open some “Christmas wine” - I know nothing about this, but it was easily drinkable…
My whole “move back to Texas” plan hasn’t really been working out, so the wife and I are toying with the idea of snagging a historic home across the Bay in Mobile. Prices are crazy low, mainly because of the history of crime lol [emoji23], but homes are already doubling in price in some areas, so thinking about renting out our current home and having fun in the “hip” area for a few years. Here is one of the places we like, a 1918 Arts & Crafts with a garage office and a courtyard. Kinda cool and definitely different than we currently have. Breweries, skatepark and restaurants all within walking distance. Schools on the other hand… no bueno [emoji851]
Had early morning duty at the gym this AM, so taught some Power Cleans (funny enough, this lady was the vet that saved my dog Buddy’s life when we found him in the nearby farm a few years ago, and 3 years later she’s a client. I helped her get a Nismo 370Z a few months ago that she lets me drive every once and a while - small world lol)
Breakfast when I got home - carbs are the most underrated food group IMHO LOL [emoji23]
Thanks for hangin!

I apologize for the lack of updates this week, it has been insane - my wife was handed a failing account to try and turn around so it’s been me
And the kids running around all week.Aside from my normal WAYWT pics, here are some I’ve snagged over the last few days
Rocking the lefty to run errands. I SERIOUSLY love this jacket.
Yesterday was ROUGH. Had to break out the good stuff:
Blanton’s in the Mignon Faget Glass. For those who are not from New Orleans, Mignon Faget makes really beautiful NOLA inspired housewares. These were a gift from my roommate in college for our wedding. He was from NOLA and his folks were like my second parents. They did a lot for me, so I always use these glasses when sipping decent whiskey.More of the Haint Blue IPA - this is seriously good beer that actually comes from Mobile. After multiple decades of terrible beer coming out of local Mobile, AL breweries, it’s a godsend to actually have decent beer to brag to my friends in Texas about haha [emoji23]
@Clint_D - I owe you a 6 pack of this stuff next time In in Austin [emoji41]
While my wife is working, and the kids are asleep, I’m catching up on my favorite show - “Fresh Off The Boat” - my wife can’t stand it, so it’s my only chance!

How can she hate on FOB!?!

New show added to the “check this out” list, stellar work as always Adam

I have no clue, but I essentially have two shows I watch,
1. Fresh off The Boat
2. Huang’s WorldSo maybe she’s just tired of Eddie’s terrible jokes

@Dsatuffer crazy about Founders, it seems they really hold a heavy share of the market, especially in the winter months.
@Steffen - modern family is one of our favorites. I consider myself to be somewhat of a “Phil” character in most scenarios haha
Last weekend was pretty busy, and a little fun, but wanted to share some photos.
We took the kids across the Bay into mobile, so wanted to share some of how the area looks:
Mobile Bay (taken from the bridge):
Our “Skyline” [emoji23]
Austal - they build ships for the US Navy and keep a lot of Mobilians employed.
I went and checked out this cool house that was being renovated, and is located downtown Mobile:
Really cool place, but lack of an office and one more bedroom kept us from moving forward with it. Plus, it got an offer from another family while I was there with my realtor haha
Had a really good beer Sunday night while
Grilling burgers
Yesterday was a federal holiday, so my wife had the day off, so we went to lunch:
Bonus pic of the lefty (x post from WAYWT)
Hope everyone has a great week!

Thanks @neph93 - fried egg burgers may be commonplace now, but I already go out of my way to order them when available [emoji851]

Nice looking house Adam….
Isn’t it though? Hoping we can find one with a smidge more space with a similar style. I love the big balconies - completely different than our modern craftsman.
Part of me wants to take on this project home in the “old towne” part of the city. Knowing what it would be worth upon completion is riveting, but the process and inevitable heartaches along the way will keep me away probably…

That is a beaut.
We took on something similar (5,000 square feet, 1830 and derelict) 12 years ago. It took us a year to sort out the house and a further 4 or so to fix the garden.
I reckon, we have probably made about USD10 (yes, ten) on our investment, but that is beside the point, we love living here…..

@Giles I figured you could appreciate the diamond in the rough.
I'd be scared to 1. find out what the costs of the rehab would be, and then 2. find a broker crazy enough to loan me the $$$ hahahaha
-
@Appfaff you could maybe buy a bathroom for that price in NY. just depressed me
great leg of the tour (but what did i expect)

If the structure is good the "cosmetics" aren't that bad, only a little bad
Is this a normal Price for an House this size and condition ?
