Truman Boot Co.

My pair.The Java Waxed Flesh

Excellent choice mate . My mate calls Truman's the poor mans Viberg .
Well made for the price point I reckon. -
At least you don't pay the extra for the name
edit:
the rest, time will tell -
My mate calls Truman's ( he's a diehard viberg man ) the poor mans Vibergs .
Obviously the price points are very different . I love my Vibergs and the quality
is top shelf , however for the price of Truman's you still get a great boot .Merry Christmas all

I've seen a couple requests for reviews/comparisons between Truman and Viberg. So, I thought I'd drop a couple of pics. I've had the Marrone HH for a few months, and just received the Color 8 Service Boots, today. I won't be commenting on them, yet. I think it's only fair to put some miles on them, before passing judgement….

The Viberg name certainly has the built in prestige and Truman's are
getting more popular .Let us know your thoughts over the next umpteen months mate .

Will be my first pair of boots ever. (Beside timberlands in high school)
Just ordered the Toscanello horse rump boot. So excited. Says will ship mid October.

I've grabbed a pair of almost new Truman boots. They are made from babele bruciato from Tempesti tannery. The quality is on par with Viberg or Wesco. The leather is soft and supple and no breaking in is necessary. The leather is some kind of hatch grain. They are in a size 11.5EE US and true to to size. They are called poor man's Viberg and the only difference is cost. -
I picked up a pair of Truman service boots in aubergine horse rump from Mild Blend in Chicago. My first pair of Trumans. I was surprised that a size 10 fit me so well as I am a 10B Brannock. Nothing beats trying on a shoe for fit and comfort.
The double row stitching is impeccable and on par with the best I've seen. The leather used on the gusset feels a bit too thin. Hopefully it is only an impression which doesn't detract from its durability.
I walked on these all day yesterday with no discomfort at all. The leather is from an italian tannery but I found it similar to Chromexel in softness, suppleness and pullup. My first horsehides and I got a kick at the roll forming on the left boot after using it for one morning. Break in will be quick on these; quite unlike the long time taken on my Viberg brown waxed flesh country boots.

Those are in my wheelhouse….. Love the colors

^ I recently got my first DSLR camera and I'll try a to get a couple better pics of the aubergine horse rumps next week with it. I think their unique color deserves a better pic, especially after some wear. The one posted above was a quick phone pic.
I'll make sure I tag you @Haddtoo 555 -
Thank you … I love them

These boots are now 8 months old but they’ve only seen very light wear. So not much change from new. Hopefully the pics are better as I’m now using a better camera than my phone.
Some rolls are starting to show, more so on the left shoe.
These are on Truman’s burgundy horsehide, a color I like very much but don’t use as frequently as I thought I would.
The leather is very supple and break in was a breeze. These are 10D, and a better fit for my narrow feet than Viberg/White/Wesco in 10D in those brands. Ideally I need to go for 10C in those three brands for a perfect fit but that is an unusual size. Only custom orders or a lucky break on the seconds/used market.
@Haddtoo 555 , did you ever get a pair?
-
Those look every bit as well-made as other premium brands. I should go visit them in Boulder.

I have the Rough Out Coyote and a java wax flesh black boots , which so far are wearing well . Good boots for the cost and they do look similar to Viberg silhouettes in my eyes . Saying that , I reckon people looking at Vibergs then faint at the costs - perhaps stumble on Trumans and go with them from a price point and their designs .

@den1mhead here’s a European stockist. I lulled over a pair a while back but opted for Vibergs instead. https://www.stuf-f.com/marken/truman-boot-co./
