Viberg

RH is one of those places that is both a joy and a pain to visit!

What is the most durable smoothout leather Viberg use? Weighing options for a service boot that is reasonably smart but will not demonstrate rapid evo and will be able to sustain the inevitable scratches and such without looking beaten up (a characteristic I normally desire, but want these to verge on dress boots).

Most durable would be their heavyweight oil tan leather used mainly on their workboot line. Oil tan leathers are fully dyed through and not tea core surface dyed like most of the fashion line leathers. Latigo is also dyed through as well and very durable. It’s been a while since I’ve seen Viberg use those leathers in their fashion line however. Horsehide is also quite durable as well but generally only surface dyed.

That confirms my sneaking suspicion that mocha oil tan is a solid target. Thank you much!

Natural CXL - 2030 last
In hindsight I prefer the service boot without the Toe-Cap.. live & learn

Cleaned, oiled and brushed my Navy CXL service boots. Ready for another 6-10 months of abuse.
Sent from my iPhone using TapatalkGod, I wish those would have fit…STUNNER, mate, seriously, they’re better than I imagined they’d be. #jealousy

Y'all see this Rivet & Hive Shinki collab preorder? One in black and one in brown.
-
The ones featured over in the Rivet and Hide thread? I like the horse hide pair.

Stuart T brought this to my / our attention whilst attending the Viberg fitting at RnH recently. Lovely boots in gorgeous leather but I find the profile / overall appearance a little "high street" for my liking.

I'm a big Viberg fan but these are not my cup of tea at all.

I'm wondering why they have decided to do them, same goes for the house slippers a while ago. I'm totally missing their point. Viberg should stick to what made them famous instead of releasing such unnecessities.
I think they are missing their Point, they try to get away from the Wear and Repair Scene and to the throw away Fashion Scene, hence the Mr Porter Collection which I tought was Way out of their Wheelhouse including Models like the Sort of Indy Boot that Alden does way better and Dress Shoes which every of the Northampton Powerhouses can do better. That is a Prime example on how not to Maintain a healthy and Loyal Customer Base.

Looks like orthopedic shoes an 80 yo hipster would wear

Terrible, and I've said so on their Instagram feed a few times. Goodyear welts are one thing, the slippers and sneakers are a bridge too far afield from what Viberg should be doing. C'mon, Brett.
