The upcoming 14 oz black denim won't fade, right? Does that mean superblack or another kind of dye?

I'd love an SBG. I get a huge kick out of black-faded-grey denim!
On balance I think I prefer OD but there is something special about the SBG. It changes the way the 21oz behaves radically and the wear patterns and hand of the denim are quite unique.
I'm looking forward to being able to compare them but I'll always have a special place in my heart for OD

Since the first zip duck work jacket seemed popular how about a whipcord variant? Or would that be too similar to the ihj-61?

Haha, I know what you mean, I usually want to buy a ________ and know that it is forever going to be the black or blue ________. If IH sold a slightly faded grey 888, I would buy that over a SBG, but they don't so I'll go with a SBG.
On the other hand, my experience with OD has taught me that the transition color is a beautiful thing, plus the process, the process itself is a wonderful gift that gives back a little each day. I'm working hard to fade the 888XHSib, and it's lovely to see the transition over time. But if you're on these forums, you already know what I'm talking about

A few of us have mentioned a desire for jeans (indigo specifically, in my case) that never fade, but I accept that it is a distinctly minority viewpoint.

I love the fading process with indigo denim, but I haven’t seen a pair of faded SBG’s that I like the looks of as much as I do a clean, nice pair of Superblacks. The OD and IB denim is a different story because the indigo adds color, making the fades much more interesting.

I enjoy the variety. I don’t own a Superblack pair but I wouldn’t mind if I felt the right cut was available in it.

I adore my superblacks now that they are over ten years old and finally soft. It was the crunchiest and heaviest denim ever for the first few years, though. If iron heart came out with a superblack with a softer hand, I would be overjoyed. Add stretch, and I would never wear anything else.

I don't like anything to stay too clean / perfect looking if I beat the hell out of it, so I don't mind some fading. But I hate when denim fades too quickly

My understanding is that the selvage version of the Superblack denim that was used on the 888 cut was much softer than the normal Superblack denim. I’d be more than fine with the selvage version replacing the original version, and I’d love a lighter weight option as well, something in the 14-16oz range. Not holding my breath, but I can dream, right?
