Iht-1610 ice dyed by Lotus @Lotus_Leaf_Dyes

Dang, never thought of tie dying a heathered fabric. I was thinking of what I would do with an IHT-1600 in white since it would inevitably have something stain it and had always thought an indigo dip a la @jdl1279 but a tie dye would be another option.

You'd best believe I'm eyeing white 1610s after this. If anything the success with my 1600 and Adam's finished Ts here have only emboldened me to attempt a one up on the man [emoji38]

It's only natural @jdl1279 I'm wishing I had white 1610's! Go with gusto!

@mclaincausey @jdl1279 The first tee I posted was a iht-2011 Sax that I bought from @Seul and had Indigo dipped by Isaac at pigeon tree and then ice dyed by my friend Lotus! So many possibilities…

Ihpt-02 Navy bleached and then ice dyed by Lotus @Lotus_Leaf_Dyes
-
Damn! That's great!
My favorite tie dyes that I have are from a fella named Tie Dye Paul who used to do lots of cool stuff out in Colorado, including giant tapestries that local venues would hang behind the stage and which would really come to life with colored stage lights on them. I've lost so much weight that they look ridiculous on me now (psychedelic flying squirrel or hippie MuMu), and so I just have them set aside. He and his wife did a sewn technique from somewhere in Africa that gave them a very distinct detailed look–distinctive enough to where I picked one out in a crowd at Jazz Fest in New Orleans and approached the person wearing it and exchanged some stories about Tie Dye Paul.
He stopped making them and went commission-only mainly doing large pieces, then as far as I can tell he disappeared. I'd love to commission a shirt or two that fits, but since I can't I may as well make my own

Red Ihpt-02 ice dyed by Lotus @Lotus_Leaf_Dyes This one is hard to capture, still working on a full shot…

What is "ice dyeing"?
It is a process where, once the tee is ready to accept dye, it is folded/tied/scrunched and then placed under a layer of ice cubes on top of which powdered dye is sprinkled on in an artistic fashion. As the ice melts, the dye mixes and flows in natural and magical ways. I've had six IH shirts ice dyed thus far and each one is unique, even if the same dyes are used.
As opposed to tie dyeing, where liquid dyes are used and it is a much quicker process from start to finish.

I'm happy to be resurrected again 2! Thanks for looking @madmonday This has been a thrill to see the various results on the different weight IH fabrics. The iht-2011 crease nicely, the ihpt-02 can take a lot of dye and get real saturated, the TW tee and the 1610 are so soft they don't get sharp creases and so it creates a softer dye pattern. I'm with you tho, the bleached tee was a serendipitous success and I think it will look better as the navy starts to lighten a shade or to. Then you might be able to see the magenta lurking beneath the surface.

I got tired of waiting for more Purple IH tees, so I had to make some of my own. I love the magenta dye on the blue tees!

And some colored pencil progress for posterity

He’s back with a vengeance! Great to see your work and fades again, @adam313.
