good fit that i fall in and out of love with
-
I'm going to ask a question that may have been asked before (though I have done a bit of searching). I have a pair of IH-301N that I absolutely love. I'll add pics at some point to demonstrate fades, but they're coming along nice.
I have an opportunity to buy an almost unworn 14 oz. version, 1 size up from my current pair for a really good price. Do you think if I purposely tried to shrink them, I could get them down anything beyond a negligible amount e.g. a full size? I was thinking after I treated the leather patch for protection, a very hot soak, extra hot wash with agitation and extra hot dry. I'd need to do something in there to make sure weird lines didn't set in which I haven't figured out yet.
The price is so good, I am considering just experimenting, but that said, I could put it towards something else. Have any other scientists out there tried something similar?

I wish you luck, but what I’ve found the more I want something like this to work, the less it does. The 14oz will shrink a bit, but in my experience they will slowly stretch accordingly.
Like hot washing and drying my 21oz, I would hope would shrink a bit, and no such luck.
If the price is that good, I would buy them and test it out.

I would recommend just removing the patch and re-sewing it on if you decide to 1-purchase them and 2-boil them.

The 301N came up smaller than the 14oz version as well. Chances are you will never get the fit you are wanting

Worth asking but what i'd thought. Sounds like it won't work. Thanks for the feedback all!

+1 - the 301N never worked for me, so would love to see a faded pair!!

It's been raining here for weeks, so apologies for the delay. Wanted some natural sunlight.
Here are my 301-N, worn for about a year (minus summer months) and washed once so far. I ride my bike everywhere, which I think has aided the development of the combs and seat area. Not much whiskering though.

Are there any plans of doing another run of these? Ive tried the 555 and the 777 but nothing fits quite as perfectly as the 301.
Thanks

I thought these were a Self Edge cut. Maybe ask kiya

Pretty much all sold out at Self Edge. Wondering if I've missed my chance and should try something else or hold out for a restock.

I think they are discontinued and the 777 took its place.

Bummer. Thanks for the info. My 301 size 29 is perfect. I just ordered the 777 in 29 and 30. 29 is too tight. 30 is a bit too big. I guess I have to choose weather I’m going to roll the dice on hoping that the 777 29 stretch or hot soak the 777 30 and hope the shrink up a bit.

I don’t have experience with the 777 cut but they should stretch

Which denim are we talking about in the 777? If it is 21oz they will stretch a decent amount, but will not shrink at all.

I’ve got the 777s 21oz. I’ve got a skinny waist and beefy thighs and like a snug fit. The waist is perfect on the 29 but the thighs are super tight. The waist on the 30 is too big and the top block is a little roomy but the thighs are perfectly snug. Wondering if the thighs of the 29 will ever loosen up. I had the 555-03 in a size too small to get the waist to fit and the thighs never stretched out so I had to get rid of them. I could totally make the 777 size 30 work. I just have to tighten up the belt a little so they stay up.

Pop a request into shop@ironheart.co.uk and see if the boys can find you 29 with larger thighs or a 30 with smaller thighs than the measurements published….

Wow. Didn’t think that was a possibility. Thanks for the responses and the advise. I’ll reach out to them.
