IH-555-02 - 18oz Selvedge Denim Super Slim Jeans - Indigo
-
I was in contact with IH today and came to realize that my beloved 555-02 went past their 6 month anni, that cannot go unnoticed of course so here are some pictures.
I presoaked my jeans and they have not seen any water since besides some rain here and there.
The pictures have no filter or any alteration:

Since it is not a constructional concern (something near the crotch seam), you can definitely leave it as is for right now and keep truckin. It will get bigger, but only marginally at first, and it will take time, so you have some time to figure out what you would prefer. Depending on who repairs it and how, it might change the way your jeans feel and move for a while until the repair softens and breaks in. There are several repair options, like basic patches, sashiko, or darning, and all will be relatively minor and painless, since the hole is not big and is in a good spot. Hope there was no physical damage and the jeans did their job and protected your body…

Hi Adam, great reply, thnx! I think I leave it as it is right now and see how it develops, there is no need since it isn’t, as you said, in any wat structural. I wear these jeans 6 months now and this is something that just happened so it’s all cool.
We have some nice repair shops here in the Netherlands who repair it any way you want it and do a great job.
I was in fast crossover turn when I lost control, wouldn’t specify these jeans as motorcycle wear but as skate wear they did a great job only minor scratches on my knees.

Bought these 3 1/2 years ago this month. I'd say they have 2 1/4- 2 1/2 years of daily wear at this point. Just got some needed repairs and a wash. I keep the bottoms in a quadruple cuff, and it's interesting to see how little indigo loss there is down there. In general, they're a bit lighter than the photos indicate, but they're just as contrasty as they look here.

Omg that’s some insane wear & tear!

Thanks. @Giles, these jeans are almost too damn durable! I see cool new pairs coming out but never end up getting them because a half dozen patches after a few years ends up getting them right back and ready for another 6-12 months of abuse. I still have a pair of 555 25 oz XHS-IB that I bought just over 2 years ago but haven't worn for more than maybe 90-100 days because these 18 oz 555s just won't die.
It's interesting to compare to other jeans I've owned. The longest I ever had another pair of jeans make it before I switched 100% to IH was a 19 oz Samurai 710. Here they are at retirement at 2 years, 1 month:
My 18 oz 555s have 3-4 months additional effective wear, and they're not even close to that trashed. There are dozens upon dozens of patches in those Samurai jeans, and they're still that decimated. On top of that, there's basically no indigo left. At this current rate, it would take me probably ~3.5 years total effective wear to have my 18 oz 555s that worn out. And, in something like 6 pairs of "high quality" selvedge denim before these 555s, those Samurais were easily the most durable. Don't even ask about how long Oni lasted for me. ::)

@cander49 clearly the denim competitions need to be at least 3 years long. F'n A
