IH-555S-21 - 21oz Selvedge Denim Super Slim Jeans - Indigo PREVIOUSLY IH-555-01

@Richardcard82 I’m sorry to hear that. Not doubting your experience but if you are not used to heavyweight, non-stretch, selvedge denim, their may be one or two things you’re missing. So I’m going to check.
When you say you can’t do up the top button, is it because you can’t get the button anywhere near the buttonhole? Is there are cm or two between them, even when you pull? If so then there is no hope.
However it has occurred before that the thickness of the denim at the buttonhole and the rigidness of the waistband causes difficulties getting the jeans buttoned and leads people to think they are too small. If you can get them done up, even with a struggle you will find that with a few days wear with a certain amount of discomfort, and they will fit. If I understood your previous posts correctly then you are aiming for a waist of 38”. That will take some time and work, unlike stretch denim.
Secondly, how do the jeans fit in the leg? Are the thighs tight, or comfortable?

I can't even get it close to button up. Its a good inch or so smaller then what I normally wear…. I've never worn jeans this thick before, I just didn't know it would be this thick. My fault like i said. Ill have to sell them online somewhere else i guess

Ok… it isn’t unusual. Even with the measuring tables and expert advice, there are different dynamics involved with denim of this type, as you say. I was able to try on my first pair of 21oz IH in NYC, and even that ended badly as I didn’t account for the stretch. They ended up far too big. My next pair were too small in the thigh, and it wasn’t until my third pair that I felt I had cracked it.
There is an active selling thread on this forum. I’d recommend you start there:

First post/fit check
First pair of iron hearts. Waist size 36. Super nice. I havent gotten a lot of time to wear them yet due to Chicago being in the mid 80s. Did a cold soak in the tub to stretch them out a tiny bit and shrink the length so i could get them hemmed. They do seem a little tight in the the upper thighs/butt, and knees, although i always see everyone wearing this exact pair in an even tighter looking fit. I take it theyll soften up more? The only selvedge I've worn before was some railcar spikes but these 555-01s are a completely different animal.

@BorderWhippett if 21oz isn't a little tight when you start then you've sized wrong. They will relax meaningfully with wear, stitching at least an inch in the waist, and possibly half an inch in the thigh (if you need it).
The 21oz will not shrink much, if at all, and you don't need to soak it as it was been thoroughly sanforised already (not that your soak will have damaged anything in any way).
They look perfect to me. As you say, folks wear them a lot tighter than that. They are "super slim" after all. Congratulations on a fine pair of jeans.

That's really good to hear. I feel like these are at the very least, the best looking fit ive ever had on a pair of jeans. My only experience was some 14oz, as well as 14oz stretch Kato brand; so tight denim still kinda scares me ¯_(ツ)_/¯

@BorderWhippett I think you’ll find they will be very comfortable after a few weeks of solid wear. Just the weight and initial stiffness will lead you to experience them as tighter than they actually are.
@Oaktavia looking good brother. That is great work for a couple of months wear.

Hi everyone, hope you’re all well and staying safe. I have a question regarding my 555-01s and thought this would be the place to tap into the best knowledge and experience. I’ve lost 20kg/3 stone over the past year and as a result my jeans are not quite fitting me as they used to. Short of putting all the weight back on, does anyone have any suggestions about maybe getting the jeans to shrink down a little? I assume they wouldn’t shrink down beyond their original measurements even with a hot machine wash? I know I might not have much of a chance, but thought it best to check with iron heart scholars first rather than just going for it. Thank you in advance

Hi @discobeard, hope you are well too.
You are quite right I’m afraid. You could boil the 21oz for an hour and tumble dry it afterwards and it would not shrink.

I thought as much. Ah well they work as a more relaxed fit and I love them anyway. Thanks neph

That is an interesting idea…if I keep it off for a while I’ll just have to buy more jeans

Any idea when a restock might happen on size 32 and 33's?
Not exactly sure which size I am right now, but see that both sizes are sold out everywhere…
