Fraudsters

The scammers targeting the WTB thread have been active again recently. If you have a WTB post up and are contacted by someone who claims to have the item for sale, please take precautions by checking a few details.
They are fairly easy to spot. Check their post history and join date. Typically their account will be new and they will have no posts. They will ask you to get i touch by email, or WhatsApp, not via pm. They may claim they have a friend who has the item and supply their email or WhatsApp number. The idea is to get communication of the site.
If this happens to you please do contact myself or one of the crew in Gosport. If you are unsure, double check with us and we can advise you.

Trying to redirect me to a guy out of the forum.

I had a bet with @neph93 that this guy was a scammer. Banning now….
A bet I did not take as I was in total agreement that the odds were excellent. It is a little frustrating being able to spot these morons by their choice of user names, but not really being able to do anything about them until they have a punt.

The user binnetedaniel is trying to scam by sending a pm and redirecting me to e-mailing his "buddy".
He signed up today and has no posts on the forum.

This guy Farid Mohd I know. I worked with him in Macau, he was working in the same hotel as me. he went back to Malaysia and then 6 months resurfaced in Macau in another hotel. Slippery character as Arthur Daly would have said, Terry would probably have sorted him out.

It's sometimes best to sell on apps like PoshMark or Mercari, the money is sent the company and they pay you when the customer confirms they've received the product or they release the money after 3 days if they don't confirm it…you don't have to worry about your paypal account involved, if they dispute it goes to the company and not you directly. Shipping labels are generated by them so they have all the proof that packages were received.... I've been selling on those apps for over 2 years, I've never had issues

I received a message from davisryan248 through the forum letting me know his "buddy" had the flannel I wanted and I should email him directly. When I emailed him he sent me pictures of the flannel that were obviously taken from the IH site. When I asked how he wanted payment, he wanted it to go to another friends PayPal account and I was instructed to ONLY use the friends and family option. When I asked why he told me that this PayPal account could only accept friends and family payments. When I expressed my concern about this he told me that I could pay half now, and half when I received the shirt. I asked for a picture of the shirt with today's date and his name written on a piece of paper next to the shirt and he became hostile. Obviously, I did not go through with the sale. Watch out for davisryan249.
