IH-301S

Ah okay. Then I believe mine were v2 with the ID at the fly but still built without the ID line elsewhere. I know that the cotton used was a Zimbabwe cotton, too.
-
I have the most recent version of the 21oz and they have selvedge in both the fly and inseam.
I would agree with @sabergirl that these are a V2 release, where as V1 was done in Superblack and 21oz, and both had overlocked seams throughout.

We have not used Zimbabwean cotton for a VERY long time. Haraki did not tell me that he had changed the cotton because he felt it unimportant because the US cotton he was sourcing was effectively the same as Zimbabwean - no one (and I mean no one) noticed we had changed. Because I did not know or notice, I did not tell anyone of the change, so some jeans were described as being made from Zimbabwean cotton for years after they were not. If you bought jeans from Iron Heart in 2005-2008 then they may have been made from Zimbabwean cotton, otherwise, it's US.

@Giles – Ah okay. So by the time I got into IH, the switch had already been made but many retailers hadn't been told.
-
Correct, nor had they been told. Classic lost in translation between Haraki and me….
What Haraki thinks important is very different from most people.
G - Are these T-shirts loopwheel
H - No idea, why?G - Is this cotton from Zimbabwe
H - No, why. It's the same spec, what's the issue?G - Why do the IH-301S's not have a selvedge outseam?
H - Because it makes no difference to their functionality whether they do or not - the denim is the same either way -
Function > style

I don’t quite agree, for many people selvedge hem, which is visible on the cuffs of the legs, is an essential attribute of correct jeans, such a fetish, it’s more than just clothes, it’s a lifestyle ..!
Each to their own. But it isn’t important to Haraki-san.
-
Don’t worry, I don’t think he is going to stop making 100% cotton selvedge. Although the new stretch denim is selvedge too, of course.
Yes, I noticed that many famous brands, like PURE BLUE JAPAN, started using different synthetic threads, when the weather is cool, it is still tolerable, but when it's hot, then it's already a problem ..!?!

Can anyone that’s owns the 301S & the 8301S comment on how they fit in comparison to each other? Love my 8301S, but the 301S looks to be a smidge narrower?

Well, I went ahead and picked up the 301S in the same size as my 8301S (33), and they are a little more snug. Not bad as I can still fit, but they are definitely tighter in the thigh. Everything else seems to be identical (waist, knee, leg opening). I have worn them a handful of times & I can tell they are starting to loose up.
I figured I’d put that down, in case anyone else was in the same predicament as I was!

@an_apple_soda - hey bud, sorry we missed the alert when you first commented a few weeks ago.
You are correct, the 8301s has traditionally been cut larger than the typical 301s. However, the SBG fabric will shrink a bit with a first wash, and stretch a bit less than the typical 21oz, so in theory after a few washes and the same amount of wears, they would "end up" being similar in size.
I hope you enjoy both pairs!

Hey, no worries, and that’s some good info!
Yes, I love them both! It took me awhile to find a pair of 301S in my size that had not been worn much or faded already. They are the perfect amount of slim, but straight enough where I can still get them over my cowboy boots.
