IH-526L - 19oz Left-Hand Twill Selvedge Denim Type III - Indigo

@VegaS10 i think the conventional wisdom is to size up and hot soak, putting it on whilst slightly damp

Sizing info.
This is what the product page says about the IH-526L

@Giles , I’ve studied both charts, and my 44OD fits perfectly in the important (to me) areas of the shoulders and chest. It leaves me the right amount of room for layering.
Am I correct in assuming I’d also need a 44 in the left hand twill?
I believe I read that the OD doesn’t shrink much due to the overdying. Does the same apply to the left hand twill?
-
@VegaS10 if you have a flick up the thread you’ll find out from others experience that the 19oz LHT shrinks meaningfully

If it’s OD’ed, it won’t shrink at all. Shrinkage info about all products is available on the product pages.
On the left hand twill page it says it's one washed and to expect little to no shrinkage.
I don't plan to hot soak, maybe a single cold once i confirm it fits with layering.

I have a 3XL of this jacket. I initially bought a 4XL and it felt a bit big and I posted pics earlier in this thread. The general advice was to size down one so I exchanged. That worked great for a while but then I wanted to wash the jacket. I did a cold hand wash because the 3XL fit great out of the bag. Even in cold water the jacket shrunk in the chest so now I can't comfortably button the jacket. It works okay over a t shirt now but I wish I would have just kept the 4XL and did a hot wash on it because I know it would have shrunk down just fine.
If you're between sizes I would definitely size up and use hot water. If you don't ever plan on washing (gross) then size down.
@VegaS10 your call buddy but I would go back through the thread a bit, for example the above. Good luck with it anyway dude

This is what I did. Graham replied and advised me to go with the XXL.
I followed his advice and placed the order.
Now we wait…

Update: Jacket arrived Wednesday. Threw on a work hoody, then the jacket on top. Perfect fit with a little extra room (which is needed for my job).
Coworker looked at the jacket and stated "I've never seen body armor made of denim before"…..lol.
This thing is amazing. I cold soaked it last night to hopefully help soften it up, as it's a tad uncomfortable "as is". Regardless, it's great, and thanks to all with the advice.

It'll be a tad uncomfortable for a few months at the very least. Mine is still pretty stiff but it can tell it is softening up finally.
I showed him pics of yours and he said "ok, I get it now!"
Looking forward to getting there.

Haha good deal…Mine is still under the one year mark so evo happens quickly with continued wear. I've found that wearing it as much as possible on "wear days" certainly helps. Wearing indoors and outdoors. It feels silly wearing such a stiff-as-cardboard jacket while lounging on the couch but eventually it pays off.

I saw a couple weeks back you asked about washing it. Have you done so yet? and if so, what where the results?

My jacket was pretty dirty…literally from dirt and rummaging around an old garage caked in dirt on the forearms. It just seemed like it was time as the whole jacket looked a bit dusty. I took a risk and threw it in my washing machine on a delicate cycle instead of hand washing it. I just felt like a hand wash would not have cleaned it the way a machine does...
Once it was finished hang drying, it actually yielded nice results. The fades all throughout are are lighter and cleaner looking, especially in the honeycombs and front button area. Some parts are clean white and the contrast is stronger. The darker areas are still super dark and did not change much, aside from looking more like a dark indigo as opposed to a brown-indigo color.
I chose a cold wash but forgot to take it out before the spin cycle. No negative results found from that though. It did not shrink any more than the initial hot soak, but I blasted it with hot water when I first got it to ensure maximum shrink.
The folds and creases set back to where they were beforehand and everything is peachy. I'll post photos of the post wash this weekend.

That looks great! Thanks for the clear pics and descriptions!
