Thanks. Yes, it is fog It was definitely chilly outside, 21 degrees when we stopped. Unfortunately, no BBQ stops today as we are just passing through Texas. However, we will have plenty of opportunities for BBQ once we arrive in Kansas City Missouri. What… did I just spark a heated BBQ debate?!?[emoji51] Texas versus KC???

I’m a total 100% KC BBQ fan,not Texas,although there are a couple of Texas BBQ places I would love to try. Everything I cook is KC style. For the most part in my area,the majority of the BBQ establishments try to emulate Texas style.

I love it all; Georgian, KC, Texas, Asian, and backyard mishaps…Cold Beer, good friends, and maybe a bourbon or three.

Kansas City is my favorite and the only one I’m not really fond of is the Vinegar based Carolina Que. With you on the cold beer/good friends and bourbon/tequila/mezcal etc.

I am also partial to KC BBQ, but that is probably because I have tried so many different places after multiple visits.

Speaking of BBQ!  When we arrived to our friends last night, my friend and I prepared a brisket and got it on the smoker.

I’m with Dennis though.  It all sounds good!

I like KC style burnt ends especially if they aren’t sauced during the cook. I don’t like molasses in my bbq sauces though.

I do mid-South style for pork but with a riff on a Carolina gold sauce in addition to a tangy mid-South ketchup based sauce, and Texas style for beef. Mid-South all the way for chicken. I rarely do other meats, though I did smoke my first sausage recently (elk andouille).

Merry Christmas to my IH family.  Love and respect to my brothers and sisters!

Haven’t had power since Friday (mid-afternoon) with extremely fierce and devastating winds in the area for the last 2 days.  Just in my local area, we had 7 trees fall and block our laneway and 30-40 trees fall in the surrounding woods (forest).

Here is my laneway after I had been cutting for an hour and it took another 4/5 hours cutting to get cars in/out after having to plow the snow.

We are safe and fairly warm, but all extremely tired…

Power should be restored today by 4:00 PM (fingers crossed).  Given the current and forecasted conditions though, I’m a little sceptical:

@goosehd whatever happens, this Christmas will be one to remember! It may not do anything to the actual temperature where you are, but I'm pretty sure there's a whole load of warmth radiating from this forum towards you and anyone else dealing with the winter storm.

The lake and the waves have been wild.  There is a football field and in some places two worth of ice that’s been pushed into the shore.  Where I was standing taking pictures is normally 5-8 feet of water and I was probably 10 feet above the surface of the water (10-18 feet to the lake bottom).  I’ve never seen this much ice in a winter stacked like this (for the entire duration of the season).

Good thing your passion for overbuilt clothing carried over to architecture. Timber, masonry, with a metal roof. Basically a fortress.
