IH-526J-142ib - 14oz Selvedge Denim Modified Type III Jacket - Indigo/Black

That’s useful, Giles. I really like the fact that it’s a unique new fabric by the sounds of things.
It's not new at all actually. Take a look here:

Duuuude…waiting for a heavyweight version of this...
My thoughts were immediately of a heavyweight version. We'll probably be waiting a long time though… there is no indigo/black in the 21oz range at the moment and Haraki-san has said that the XHS is too thicc to make a type III from.
That being said, I'm loving these pics. It really is a beautiful colour.
I recall reading similar comments from IH folks that a 25oz 555 was not possible either…

Nope, not the same thing.
Making 555’s out of XHS was always doable. However Haraki-san (and Giles) were reluctant to use XHS on the slim tapered cuts because the feeling was that such heavy denim on such slim jeans would be so uncomfortable that no one would want them. Denim head masochism changed their minds.
Haraki-san would likely do an XHS type III if he could, but he won’t because he believes it is technically impossible to do well. The aggregration of felled seams at the arm holes is just too much. This is why there is a type III vest in XHS but no jacket.
Of course, the guy is a genius, so never say never.

I bought two type III’s this spring and am in need of something heavier for the arctic winter so I’m out. For now. It is so beautiful I may need one regardless.

Between still breaking in my new Lefty Trucker, and waiting (im)patiently for the White Windbreaker to drop tomorrow, I’m also out for now…
...but it’s only a matter of time [emoji51]

It does seem quite Gorgeous in color and everything else. I like that it's got the hand warmer pockets and is a bit longer than the usual.
I'm being prompted to double check my measurements by Adam, which I'm sure is a good idea. I ordered Large which is my usual size. I'd be little shocked if I'm a medium and am not a XL for sure.
I'm 5'10', 190 lbs., waist 37", shoulders are average, used to be wider lol
I'll measure my old Lucky jacket which I still get tons of comments on but it's always been a bit tight at the bottom
Cheers

@Shanman11 knowing someones height and weight is of limited use when judging sizing. It doesn’t say much about how the garment will fit. Measuring something similar you own the IH way is a better strategy. Do you know what size you are in IH shirts? Also, how do you plan to wear this, over a tee or with more layers?

PatrickHi Patrick,
I am 5’10”, 170lbs and waist 34”. I usually wear a Large in Iron Heart jackets, but sometimes an XL. I wear a M in typical high street brands.
I recommend studying the measurements carefully in comparison to existing jackets that you own, but I’d imagine you’ll be an XL or maybe bigger. I’d be surprised if a Large fits. I could be wrong though.

As usual of course you're Correct Sir ! Measuring now on another jean jacket.
I don't like to have much under a jean jacket ie; maybe one long sleeve wool/capilene base layer once it gets cold or a thinner pullover hoody type deal, usually a T-shirt is my fave but long sleeves once the cold starts kicking !!
