IH-555-XHS - 25oz Selvedge Denim Super Slim Jeans - Indigo
-
Hello all,
Very long time lurker, first time poster… At least maybe first time in a long time.
Just received my 555XHS from Rivet and Hide in size 30. Amazing and swift service!
Unbelievable quality. The thickness of this fabric is insane!
Tried them on and they fit well… Buttons were nearly impossible to button. I used the handle of a toothbrush to help elongate the holes. That worked well.
I immediately soaked them in warm water with a quarter cup of detergent, agitated thoroughly, and then rinsed them in the backyard with a garden hose. I dried them hanging off a hanger and in front of a fan and I am wearing them now, very slightly damp. Took a grand effort to get the top button buttoed but I got it done.
This cut and this fabric is sensational. I’m so excited to begin this journey.
For reference, I am 5 foot 7 inches, 161lbs, and I have an athletic build - I am 46 years old. I wear size 32 in the 666 21oz and a size 32 in the 555 21oz. I also own a pair of 2009 Ueno bought 634S size 30, Self Edge SF bought 301’s and 633’s. The 555 (in 21 and 25oz) is hands-down a MASTERPIECE. Cheers to Haraki-san, Giles and the whole Iron Heart family and community.

Just placed an order for these. I'm highly doubting they'll replace the 555 SST's I just picked up, as I'm now spoiled by stretch as a motorcycle rider. However, I've wanted 25oz jeans since I started this addiction and the restock was a perfect chance to add them to my collection.
Also, I really want to see them stand up on their own LOL

I am a long time lurker here and finally able to join in and say 'Hi' after I received my pair of IH-555-XHS today along with my Wesco Jobmasters. I have to thank Ben Anders for his amazing help at IH in selecting this pair for me after we worked through some sizings.
I take a 32" waist but got a 33 Tag which had a slightly larger 34.5" waist to make allowances for any shrinkage. It took me about twenty minutes and a near broken thumb to get them done up, reminds me of the pain learning to play guitar but all good!
Being somewhat vertically challenged at around 5' 6" I normally take a 32" leg, these are 36.7" I think I like the double cuff over the single and I think that the bottoms could turn out some nice markings once the shrinkage pulls them up a bit, be great to hear some thoughts.
But, I am sat in them now, do I continue to wear to stretch or is it better to give a first soak, any guidance on these superb 25oz would be great.
It is great to finally join the Iron Heart family and I cannot thank Ben and the team enough for such a great first time experience in such a wonderful product and brand.
Cheers Nick

Welcome Nick and congrats on a fabulous pair of jeans and a beautiful pair of boots.
I would strongly recommend do the soak/wash now. If they were tight from the off their may have been something to gain from wearing for a while, but seeing your fit, I’d get the shrinkage out now.

Thank you @neph93 it is great to be here!
They are soaking as I type I will drip dry and then put out in the sunshine, or it better indoors, I don't want to tempt too much shrinkage?
I have been breaking in the Jobmasters, they are super comfortable. What is recommended to feed the leather this first time and waterproof?
Thanks again, Nick

Outdoors, but in the shade as the sun can fade then prematurely (unless you're going for that, then all power to ya!)

Drying does not cause shrinkage, lubrication and agitation does.

The domain leathers are waxed so are fairly waterproof already. Seeing as these are new, the leather shouldn’t need anything for a while.
However if they are going to see a lot of water/snow/ice/mud, I would recommend a silicon based treatment for the uppers and some kind of natural oil/wax/creme for the midsoles.
The other option is to do nothing and bare witness to the glory that is a trashed pair of Wesco’s. They’ll still last for years even with negligent treatment.

Is there a Restock on this anytime soon? I'm looking for size 31 on these.

October
That should be right in time for the winter season. Is there a piece in stock in Japan that can be bought over in size 31? No problem if not. I just wanted to try my luck.
