IH-666S-SLB - 16oz Slubby Selvedge Denim Slim Straight Cut Jeans - Indigo

Yeah I really like the cut on these compared to some of the other 666 and 777 cuts, a bit of extra room around the thighs is nice, while still being fairly straight in the leg, not too much taper at the leg opening. In my photos the leg openings almost look a bit flared, but it's just how the fabric was puffed out a bit when first putting them on. I could pat them down and they would look straighter. I was fairly conservative with my inseam length for hemming, being the first pair I have got hemmed I didn't want to come up short. Should hopefully pan out fine with a bit of stacking after a wash. Can always do a little cuff if needed.
In hunting for a pair I noticed a lot of the other 666 / 777 cuts ran a bit low in the rise for me, or were too narrow in the thigh. There were a few that come close to these proportions, but weren't in stock. The IH-634S-SLB is also pretty close to this, quite a similar cut, tiny bit more room at the thigh and knee. Gives the possibility of the straighter overall look for those that want it, though perhaps a little roomy for me in the leg. Interestingly the IH-634 original denim is even more spacious in the leg opening / knee / thigh, I had considered them previously but figured 9in leg opening would be a bit baggy for me. IH seem to have figured out a nice middle ground with these SLB cuts. Works great for me, not sure how the taller folks find it.

@catdad Looking good. Mine are at a similar place. I’d be interested to know what slub fans think of these. Having worn mine a lot this summer, I enjoy them but they are the least “Iron Heart” pair of jeans I own. All the things I’ve heard about PBJ and seen with Samurai, are happening. Threads are busting, weft is popping, sections are thinning. It’s great fun. They will also almost certainly have a short life span.

I love wabi sabi, but I like it when structural decay happens slowly enough for the fabric's character to get far along before the jeans become a pile of dust. I think that's one of the things that makes me love IH denims, because it seems the more generally held standard seems to be for the entire garment to age at the same time.
My slubs are still hanging in the closet and I don't know when I'll get to them, but that's not a super encouraging take from Neph from my perspective.
That said, Catdad's and others I've seen look great to me!

I think they're similar in theory to other slub denim. They appear identical to Evisu slub denim (that I've only seen in pictures and not first hand) but the warp threads of the IH have that ultra dense silky softness other IH denim has. Which is not like other slub denim I've seen. I'm surprised to hear they are breaking down. There was even a nep ball near the right knee that was interfering with my thigh stroke feng shui… I very carefully cut it off with a pair of diagonal cutters The area is holding up fine... I won't try and trash mine and continue to baby them.

I guess I am wrong. But the pictures I saw it looked so similar. I'll have to try and find them.
