I don't have a Wills jacket, but every other SJ garment,I have,is one size down from my IH size, and fits perfect. Sounds like you should be OK. There's also a SJ Speakeasy page on Facebook, where you might inquire as well. Last but not least if after 2.5 years the jacket doesn't work out for you, they're pretty easy to sell and,get almost all your money back.Good Luck.

I also take a L in IH shirts, and ended up picking up the Wills in a M and L (before these crazy wait times).
I think you chose correctly. Over a T, the M fits me perfectly. It was a little snug over a UHF or sweater. The L fits over my beefiest sweaters and looks a bit large over a T.
Keep in mind that the fabric is kinda thick. So don't necessarily size by a 12oz denim shirt.
I'll throw a UHF on and try the M again in 30 mins and get back to you. It's been a while since I've tried.

@Oaktavia you and I seem to be on the same life path trajectory!! haha….you just got married, i'm about to be married...think we have some similar boots, I love that lefty jacket you have...I too just placed an order on the Wills Jacket...
any advice on the sizing? guess you are a bit blind on the matter as am I....but any thoughts or advice in your research/ journey you could share?
BTW...since this won't come for 2.5 years, technically it's not interfering with wedding saving!!!
I have noticed this actually! Congrats on your engagement. Being married for me feels so secure and comforting knowing I've found the woman of my dreams. I'm sure you will feel the same sentiment when your time comes.
From what I remember when I placed my order was they will double check with customers who buy Wills jackets after the second deposit is placed. This is because weight fluctuates over the time it takes to wait for one, I would assume.
With that said, I plan to talk them directly and figure it out from there. From what I understand they are excellent with customer service. I'm fairly certain they are familiar with how IH measures so I plan to let them know that and work with them from there. I was going to measure my Lefty jacket the same way they would measure their Wills or at least ask them if that process would work properly. Hope that answers you question…

Hey everyone!! So I just placed a deposit on the Wills Jacket! Only a 2.5 year wait a head of me!! Hopefully I just forget about it and one day wake up and BAM! Happy Merry New Day!!
My question for those of you who have this jacket is with sizing. I have a freenote wxed canvas jacket. It fits slightly bigger than i'd prefer. I can layer under it and its fine. But I want this jacket to fit nice and clean with maybe a UHF under it and no more.
I generally wear a Large in all IH shirts. So shoulder of about 18 and chest about 21-22.
I ordered a medium in the Wills. It has the following dimensions:
Shoulder 18.75
Chest 22
Sleeve 25.25
Length 27.50….however I requested to have them cut the length down to 26.5"How does this jacket fit and move and wear? Want to get the sizing just right since it's a no return policy and all....Thanks a ton in advance.
I wear a size L in IH flannels. I am 6’1”, 185 lbs and needed a large / long. Initially I tried the large regular and it was just too tight in the shoulders and short in the arms when worn over anything but a tee shirt. The seam was really painful in my shoulders. There is no way I could have worn a medium, I don’t think. The material is really stiff and unforgiving so I definitely recommend sizing up instead of down. If the UHF fits snug on you, then I can’t imagine sizing down to a medium is a great idea.

Thanks for the input @Paul9221 @Oaktavia @Jett129 @popvulture
Did anyone opt to shorten the length of their jackets? The length of the Medium is 27.5" I feel a 26.5" will get closer to my denim jackets and other waxed Freenote…mayne that extra length is there for a reason though??

Okay, so, I have the L sax UHF that just came out last week over a T and under the M Wills. It actually fits perfectly.
I think a M Wills will do you good!
Edit: for reference, I'm 155lbs, 5'10", about a 38.5" chest.
Thanks bro!! This is why I love this IH family!! Best group of peeps ever!!

I found the sizing chart they use pretty accurate. the measurements listed had me in an XXL and it fit pretty well.
Its a cool jacket and well made and all that, but in the end I didnt keep it.

I'll find out when I get mine in Summer 2023 lol

@Mizmazzle I sent you a quick note.

@Paul9221 thanks brother. I appreciate you taking the time to do that. Seems I’m a bit chunkier than you, but our chest measurements are about the same as is height. Maybe I have fat legs or something haha
Ha, I'm on the tail end of cutting, so I'm pretty lean at the moment. I started at about 175.

The size chart is pretty accurate and works for sizing. I picked up an XXL and it allows me to layer and be comfortable. The jacket feels like armor and is very stiff, I can imagine that it would be unbearable to wear if too small (for me). It'll take a long while to break this in.
I word it to an event last weekend and all my friends were impressed and wanted to try it on.
