Does the collar ever relax once it gets worn in?
Bought a large and extra large. It's too long in the body on the extra large. The large is a tad bit restrictive in the shoulder arm area. Think this one just may not be for me sadly. Will sleep on it but I know I will probably be returning both unfortunately.

Not really. It isn’t intended to either. You could wet it and iron it to force the fibres to bend that way, but its purpose is to hold the hood and act as insulation for the neck. That is why it stands up.

Are the p2p-measurements for this jacket taken exactly as with shirts and denim jackets? From the outside including all fabric pit to pit?
I'm a size XL on all Iron Heart shirts I own, but guess I should size down on this jacket to L? I'm thinking the measurement across the jacket p2p due to the thickness of the jacket would reduce the actual fitting size?
Am I making any sense?

Yes.

A lot of people size down in this jacket to get a slightly more tailored fit, so that is very likely to be what you are seeing in the numbers.

Thank you for confirming this.

I took an L in the black one (take XL in UHFs) and it fits perfectly, with ample room for layering underneath.
Best purchase I've made for a while

That's exactly what I wanted to hear. Thanks. I need to be able to layer and feel comfortable with jackets and shirts. Only downsize is perhaps longer sleeves than I'd prefer, but I can live with that.

To be fair the originals had long sleeves too, intended as they were as functional all weather field jackets. Given Haraki-san’s penchant for long sleeves anyway, it was unlikely he would change that.
I actually have relatively short arms and find the longer sleeves perfect with gloves in cold and windy weather. I think you’ll find them acceptable.

Another T-Rex weighing in here. Granted it was several seasons ago, but sized TTS in an IH M-65 and the sleeves were not an issue for me at all.

My UHF usual size is XL, but I wear the M65 in L.
I've still room left to layer the Primaloft vest under the jacket (L).Love them both

Normally an XL in most IH shirts. I went with an L in this jacket with no regrets. Wore it today in fact.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Excellent solution. I'm all about layering the fannel and the primaloft vest underneath.
On another note, does the measurement of jacket length start from the top collar, or is it from beneath the collar down to the bottom back?

I got mine today and I love it…mostly. Fits great in the shoulders and chest, ample space in the stomach. But I don’t know if I will be able to keep it, the armpits and top bicep are kinda tight. I’m gonna wear it when weather allows to try it out, but the tight areas are very tight with a UHF, it will make layering a challenge.

did u size down when you place the order?

From my UHF size, yeah. But I got the same size N1 and it fits like a dream. I feel like if I sized up on the M65 it would be too big everywhere else.

Has anyone gotten any shrink out of their M65? Would like to shrink it some but with how tightly woven the cotton sateen is, questioning if I should even bother with a warm wash and tumble dry. Did not know if this kind of treatment would yield any results or worse; if this would damage it in any way.

Recently washed at 30C for the first time. A bit of shrinkage I think, and the look and feel is greatly improved (a more crumpled and worn look that suits that kind of jacket).
