IHSH-331-BLK - 12oz Moleskin CPO Shirt - Black
-
I got a chance to try this on yesterday at Berkeley Supply. I was expecting more of a brushed texture to this, but it is not. I actually like it that way since I kind of prefer a harder surface feel! Was super tempted to pick it up, but held off. The weight did feel more like a heavy shirt than a jacket to me. Its gets pretty hot here in Colorado in the summer so I think it could be used as a jacket in that time (though I still try to wear my 526PJ :D). I am thinking it might be a bigger difference on whether you like the western yokes or not.
Man, first they hit me with all the green goodness and now they are getting me with the black!

Beautiful. I wish the IHSH-218 - "The Johnny Cash III" was also completely blacked-out, rather than the white selvedge tickers. Especially at the hem gusset; a bit immature looking rather than this CPO's refinement.

That is a function of the design. The westerns are built the same way regardless of material. CPO’s are made in such a way that the selvedge ID wouldn’t show, even if there was one (which there wouldn’t be in this case).

My snap swap decision wasn't based on the selvedge ID,but for me,as much as I loved the brass snaps on the Olive 331,they didn't work for me on the black version. When they first made the Over dyed 178 the snaps ended up looking kind of silvery/pewtery which I would've loved on this shirt. Sometimes wish there was a different,other than brass,material,option for that iconic IH snap.

Understood, @neph93. Thanks. I thought it would be as simple as folding back the ticker when sewn– or no gusset at all. Perhaps I'll still pull the trigger and go ahead with the idea of just dyeing it black.

I know what you mean. But there isn’t that level of manipulation of the original design.
I know it seems like a dumb thing to do for a 350 dollar shirt, but a black sharpie will do the job very well.

I will never be able to find it, but there was someone who painted the copper snaps on his shirt with black translucent nail polish or something, and it looked amazing. Looked even better when it started wearing off again. I don’t even remember what shirt it was. Maybe a 99?

It was defo one of the overdyed heavy CPO’s, I remember it also. Will have a look now.

just ordered one of those
@Iron Heart Germany
pretty excited how the moleskin is…. -
I just ordered one of these in size large, and look forward to adding it to my small IH CPO collection. I might take Giles' suggestion and try the black Sharpie snap treatment.
I have the 18 oz. black overdye version from about a year ago. The black overdye CPO will be hard to top, but I look forward to this moleskin variant!
