IHSH-330-BLK - 9oz Raised Whipcord Western Shirt - Black
-
Received mine today from IH Hamburg. Such a nice and soft fabric. It is going to be one of my favorite IH pieces.

I thought it looked like moleskin as well when I first saw it. I really loved the feel and actually thought about getting both colors, although in the end I went with the charcoal as I already have a few green westerns. It's a really nice shirt, not as heavy as the flannels but still a substantial feel to it. It's fast becoming a favorite of mine.

Mine came in yesterday. It's very soft to the touch, thanks to being brushed, and has a nice heft. Seems like it should have great fading potential also. I don't have much black in my closet, so this is a nice addition.

@Toei confirmed, it is sulphur dyed. Which other US company, please, so I can contact them.

Could anyone who owns this shirt post some feedback on how this fabric compares to the denim ones?

I’ll receive a brand new one in days and can take some shots comparing with a 12oz denim shirt (IHSH-33-T) and the Johnny Cash III (12oz as well).

I own the 9oz Raised Whipcord in Olive Green and the fabric is amazing. When compared to an IH denim shirt, like my 33T, the Whipcord has a very soft brushed exterior finish, almost feels like velvet on the outside, but is crisp and firm on the inside. The Whipcord does feel stiffer than the 12oz denim right out of the package, but after just two wears it is nice and soft; it certainly feels thinner but still super rugged…very unique.
The 12oz denim on my 33T was soft and pliable right out of the package. Very rugged and with a thick hand, but still very comfortable. The exterior feel is very much what you would expect from 12oz denim.
These things are hard to describe but I hope that helps a little:)

Just received mine. It’s a wonderful piece
Definitely softer than a 12oz denim shirt.
Lighter too; warm, velvety, with a nice black sheen.Inviato dal mio iPhone utilizzando Tapatalk

@waXology thanks for the video! Very helpful and answered all my question I had about this shirt!

@Autorotate Most welcome my man. The shirt remains one of my go to. It's so good!

It showed up today. Pimped with brass snaps. Comfy on a warm spring evening with shorts. TBD on how well this shirt will do with summer temps, but sheesh it’s comfy right out of the bag. Soft like a UHF. Solid shirt, and I really really really like the olive green.

My first IHS, and while am loving the fabric, I’m just blown away by the cut. I have a few Japanese heavy and medium shirts, and the closest match is a Stevenson western, but that fabric is a few oz lighter and, while the Stevenson can compete in fitted look, the 330 has just the perfect amount of movement and breathing space. Especially the arms are done well, as it is where so many brands either constrict or struggle with excess material. I am a slim 186cm, with 48cm shoulders and longish arms, and the 330 fits like it is made to measure.
And while I understand whipcord is a twill weave, and moleskin a satin, one really has to study the reverse side close-up to see the diagonal lines of the twill. Just to say: the brushed side really looks and feels like moleskin! In combo with the discreet western styling, it makes for an accomplished balance act between a work / casual / dress shirt.Only thing is, it isn’t as neutral black/dark grey as I’d hoped/expected, its nearest colour neighbour would be a ‘Mariana trench deep purple’ to my eyes, and, in hindsight, one could detect that in the studio pictures. The 330 goes well with brown and sand, but it combines better with some indigo denims than others.
It’s a total keeper though, so what can one do, but to bookmark the For Sale page, and try and hunt an XL black western with tonal stitching. -
I don't have a huge collection of IH shirts ( 4 as of yet) but this is definitely my favorite so far.
It's recently had its first wash, and is starting to show some fading around the collar and cuff ends. -
Just curious how these differ from the serge black and green shirts, https://www.ironheart.co.uk/forum/topic/8484/ihsh-235-blk-13oz-military-serge-western-shirt-black/177 -- ?
Thank you.
