If it's any consolation, I feel the same way about the IH-714's specifically. I bought a pair on release but went W36 when I should have gone W34. Stretch and weight loss made them unwearable and I had to let them go. It still hurts when I think about them

Thanks @UnTucked  and the only pair of engineers I found so far that fit perfect. I have small feet with a regular instep. With most of the engineer boots I gave a try it is  difficult to get in and then they are too roomy… including my beloved Lofgrens.
