IH-888S-RE - 14.7oz Eco Selvedge Denim Medium/High Rise Tapered Cut
-
These came this morning, and I had to wait ALL DAY with the knowledge that they were just sitting at my house.
I am soooooo happy with these! The 888 is my cut, for sure. They're not restrictive but there's no extra material where I don't want it. It's going to take a phenomenal effort not to snag every iteration (the blue/blacks are a certainty). It's also going to feel strange to go back to my 1955s.
Definitely an entirely different denim than the flagship 21oz. They actually remind me a bit of my zimbabwe momotaros. They're crunchy and rough to the touch, but less hairy than the zimbabwes.
I'll try and get some fit pics up tomorrow.

Crappy time delay selfies don’t do these justice but here they are. Whatever the opposite of buyer’s remorse is, I have that. Buyer’s gratitude? Hemming length was perfect choice. It can lose a tad in the length without issue but I’ll be happy if these don’t shrink at all (and will wash with that in mind).

Loving mine so far. Perfect in this warmer weather. Lots of indigo on the hands so far. Sign of things to come!

Time for some evo shots, with the macro lens. Took these real quick so sorry for the soso quality.
Worn 35-45 days total, I never track these things but I got them early Aug and have been wearing as much as possible. They felt like old friends after about 3 wears, super happy with them.
These shots are after their first wash. Washed cold, inside out, line dried and no heat tumbled. I do nothing to facilitate, or preserve, or direct evo in any way. Being a shameful office worker, most of the evo is in the crotch and seat. The shots from top to bottom: crotch (from front), coin pocket, hem, top block, crotch (from back), more crotch (from back), combs (barely anything).
These are fading to a nice electric blue, as you can see. The evo is more noticeable in these photos than in real life, it's dreary here and I had to use the flash.

My 888 UHRs started to develop some holes in the crotch so while I send them off for repair i figured i would switch back to my TW 634N Unfortunatley, after the 888s they just didn't feel right. TJ at the shop in Vancouver sorted me out quick. These feel amazing right out of the gate and i can't wait to see how they age. Hopefully one of these days I'll get around to some better photos

@neph93 I was thinking today that the fading speed and dye color of the 888ib looks a lot like this. Being you have both what do you think?
-
Oh, sorry. My reading comprehension skills. Not great.
-
@Filthy I have both. I really don’t know what causes the electric blue fading. If I had to guess, I would think in the case of the RE, it’s the resistance of the recycled yarns to absorbing dye. It’s also worth noting that the RE doesn’t have a white weft. So perhaps it’s the lack of white weft that these two share, and what let’s the white highlights of the warp to show. I’ll take some shots of both together sometime soon.

Thanks a lot. I would appreciate a comparison. I know I am wild about the color of my 888-xhsib.
-
These seem a lot more brown in these photos than the ones I tried in Corlection. They are the perfect jean for em and I wish I owned a pair!

One soak pre-wear on the xhsib. RE are in the same state as previously.
-
@tvenuto really cool. The xib is way deeper though. Love those electric and cobalt blues.
-
@tvenuto keep up the good work on the eco, looks great! Sadly no one else is posting any wear. I forgot about this denim.
-
Yea seems to be suffering the same fate as the yenim in that regard. The xhsib has been monopolizing my legs for now but once the weather heats back up it’ll be all these.

So I’ve been looking at this pair for a month now and I think I’m finally going to move in for the kill. Thanks for the pic and endorsement @sabergirl [emoji109]
