Is there any advantage to using Obenauf's oil over the lp? I honestly don't know what the difference is other than the oil being in liquid form. Would the oil be more useful for softer leathers like chromexcel?

@gaseousclay I have no direct experience with these products but judging by other similar products, the LP is going to be for leather items (and especially footwear) that is in regular contact with a damaging environment (lots of mud, dirt, water, snow, grit, sludge etc). I'd use it on my winter/autumn boots for example.
I suspect the oil will be good for refreshing and protecting leather that isn't exposed to these harsh conditions, so I'd use it on belts, wallets and perhaps boots/shoes that only see wear in the warmer drier months. The sheepskin on my C3 vest would be another area as the LP or other heavy duty wax based sealants/preservers would be a bit much for that kind of leather I think.

I think the oil would be better to soften leather as it absorbs in easily, that said, if you take a hair drier to the leather after using the Lp it soaks in very pretty much the same. I actually like to get the lp warm first before use.
I have also applied a very thin coat to an Irvin jacket without any issues, don't think the oil would be suitable for that at all. -
Their Leather Oil for protection in moderate conditions
Excellent for hot, dry summer months to keep leather hydrated
Thanks @Giles. Knew I should've read the fine print before posing my question.

I've already used up the 16 oz bottle and all I can say is that this oil is amazing. It softens and preserves the leather amazingly well. Easily the best leather care product I've tried. It does darken every leather, though. Some might not like it but I definitely do.

How do you use up a 16oz bottle so quickly? I bought a jar last year off of Amazon and I've used it once At this rate it should last me for years

Thanks, @AdamJ! Excellent timing 8).
@gaseousclay I was surprised, too, but I applied it on all my leather shoes/sneakers/belts etc. and didn't spare anything. So even the 16 oz bottle was empty pretty quickly. The stuff is that amazing! I then bought the 8 oz bottle but it's aleady hollow so I will need a refill soon.

That explains it. I use the paste so don’t need as much
