IH-555SG-BLK - 21oz Serge Super Slim Cut Jeans - Black
-
Got mine yesterday. They're soaking in my bath right now to get rid of the shrinkage. These jeans feel extra heavy duty. I'll post measurements and a fit picture after they dry.
-
Reporting back on shrinkage. I soaked them for an hour in my bathtub with the hottest water from the tap and let them drip dry. My results are quite different from @AdamJ. Barely any shrinkage.
Waist: 19.5 –> 19 in
Front Rise: 11.5 --> 11.5 in
Back Rise: 16 --> 16 in
Thigh: 13.75 --> 13.75 in
Knee: 9 --> 8.75
Hem: 8.25 --> 8.25
Inseam 35.5 --> 35.5I thought for sure I would see at least an inch of shrinkage in the inseam and waist. They fit just fine so we'll see what happens after I wash them again in a while. I would like to get them hemmed but I'm going to wait and play it safe until I wash them in a machine.

Any evo shots yet? And how heavy / breathable are they compared to the normal 21 oz denim?

@Max:
And how heavy / breathable are they compared to the normal 21 oz denim?
This is the same material as used in the 21oz wabash vests, just minus the spots. Based on the vests the material presents as more densely woven and heavier, but not quite as thick to the hand. I don’t think it breathes like the 21oz cell bitch does.
As far as fading goes, the black fades a bit like the SBG, the blue like standard 12oz wabash.
-
I have mine on today. Will try and get some fit pics/close ups shot.
The pocket/seat are has been fading but no way near as quick as the 555-03, looks a lot whiter in my opinion as opposed to the fading on my SBG. Not as breathable as 21oz as Neph mentioned.
Also, they are SO comfy.
-
Thanks @AdamJ I figure they are similar to the heavy Oz serge cargo pants then… Heavy but soft. I struggle to find a black ih jeans that fits like I want it to. This could be the one or the upcoming 14oz bb 888 or 555.
-
Excuse the state of them, have been wearing non stop for the past month!
The taking of this photo got some curious looks from drivers passing by in the car park
-
That's effort! Thanks a lot @AdamJ
They look great of course -
It raised my eyebrow TBH. No evo on the legs to photo?
-
Now that it's cooling off and I can wear these I decided to put them in the washer to get all the shrink out. This was around 40 minutes at 100° F with low spin. I feel better knowing that I probably won't get any unexpected shrinkage in future washes.
Waist: 19.5 –> 18.75 in
Front Rise: 11.5 --> 11.4 in
Back Rise: 16 --> 15.75 in
Thigh: 13.75 --> 13.6 in
Knee: 9 --> 8.75
Hem: 8.25 --> 8.25
Inseam 35.5 --> 34.9 -
Documentation is a glorious thing good man.
I figured it’s the least I can do considering all of the helpful information that I’ve read on the forum.
-
Serge can be a lot of things. I haven’t seen or touched the shirt IRL, so no comparison, but I own wabash vests made of the same fabric as these jeans. The only difference is the wabash dots applied to the vest.
It is a great fabric. Not as stiff as most denim from IH and not as thick as the 21oz denim, but very substantial and quite tightly woven. Remarkably soft and supple. It is a very nice matte black colour too.
-
I love the feel of this fabric. Soft and forgiving. Can’t wait to wear mine again once I get them back from
getting hemmed.
