IH-888S-142 - 14oz Selvedge Denim Medium/High Rise Tapered Cut Jeans - Indigo
-
Got these in time for Florida and they are great.

Picked a pair of these up today at Rivet and Hide…size 36. With a bit of stretch in the waist With wear they will fit perfectly
-
Thanks @neph93 @Dion 888 were the 2nd IH jeans I ever bought, but I bought a size too large and the waist was way too big when it stretched out so I sold them on. I've stuck with 555 ever since.
As these are intended as a summer Jean, the extra leg room wad preferable for me. I tried the 14oz 555 today as well, they fit well, with a higher rise than any of my other 555..
This 14oz initially feels heavier than my 16oz vintage denim. I love how papery and crisp it is at the moment. I'm going to go against my usual rules and wear these for a couple of months before I soak them. If I soaked them now I don't think I'd ever be able to do up the top button again.
I think I might need a type III in this denim too, but I'll live with these for a while first.

Just got these in while I was on vacation and I’m giving them a run today. MY GOODNESS! This denim feels amazing; it feels more substantial than 14oz.

@Jordanxbuffer my thoughts exactly. This definitely feels more substantial to the touch than my 16oz vintage 555s. I haven't soaked them yet as I want to stretch them with a few weeks of wear.
It's a very dark indigo too, so I'm hoping for some high contrast fades.

I picked up a pair of 777S-142’s with the intention of those being the denim I wore on the hottest days of summer, but after comparing the 142 denim with the 16oz Vintage denim, I think the 16oz wins in that regard. I love the 142 denim regardless, but I think my 16oz 666’s will be my hot-weather jeans and I’ll wear the 777’s when the temperature is below 90 degrees Fahrenheit.

Wow. Does this 14oz ever stretch?? I bought a snug fitting waist in the hope of an inch stretch, give or take a couple of 8's. I've worn them for a few days now and no stretch yet. Ive chosen not to soak them yet either, as that might render them unwearably until they have a presoak stretch.

Idk. I have to size up for thighs so I’ll trade you for the tighter waist. Lol.

I noticed the same thing on my 777’s, I don’t think I’ve gotten much stretch with those either. The waist is still snug after several wears, it’s manageable but I probably could have sized up one. I just assumed there would be a pretty reasonable amount of stretch.

I've always wanted to own a pair of jeans that I never wash. This may be that pair. I like the idea of seeing every bit of living on them.

Do it. I’ll be sending mine in for a waist reduction shortly due to my size up. Are yours crocking a lot?

Problem with not washing a pair ever, is unless you really don't get a fuck about wearing filthy jeans you kinda end up babying them.

I’ve loved washing my UHR; they become more alive with each wash.

@Jordanxbuffer I've been careful what I wear them with, but today wore them with an untucked white tee. Haven't noticed any issues. I've got no doubt they will crock like hell as the indigo is very deep.
@spitfiredealer I don't care too much about them not getting a wash. I've got jeans I haven't washed for a couple of years (but that have been washed at some time). I don't have a manual job so wouldn't expose them to serious filth, and I don't intend throwing up on them! They are one wash, so shouldn't suffer like raw denim would… I hope

@Jordanxbuffer Hey, just curious but where are you sending the pair in for a waist reduction? I unfortunately lost a lot of weight recently and have a pair of XHS I was considering sizing down as well.

There’s a local tailor I may try or I might send them over to rain with my UHR or Railcar. Although Railcar did less than stellar repair work on my wife’s pairs of Railcar vixens as well as a crazy weird lack of communication on their end in regard to repair time.
