IHSH-221 - 13oz Double Faced Cotton Work Shirt - Indigo
-
Questions for anyone.
Is this fabric considered a "denim?"
Is it a duck fabric?
Will it fade? -
It is not a denim (denim is a twill weave). it is not a duck (duck is a prime weave). This fabric is a double weave, so it is woven differently from denim or duck.
Yes it will fade.
Edit - when looking at the product I noticed a mistake in the description which I have now fixed. The face is a prime weave (so like a chambray or duck), the reverse is a twill (like a denim). But it's neither a duck or a denim.

I bagged a large….after I said no more .... we know how that goes. Now a 10 yr. anniversary work shirt.....and
that's it....maybe

I just received my shirt last night and I looked at it and it finally dawned on me that the fabric is pique. Not Pique like the guy that plays that terrible sport. but the fabric pique. Excellent stuff.

Hey guys, just a small cautionary tale about this fabric: be careful when washing.
Washed this for the first time over the weekend with some other indigo garments and found a small tear forming on the back near the right arm hole.
Very well could just be my shitty washing machine, but I washed it on delicate so I didn’t expect any issues.
So just be careful!

I hand washed mine before I saw this post. I was more worried about white marks and streaking. This shirt is going to look amazing with time, It seems to fade as fast as loom breakers do!

@Giles I had the same issue with my shirt as well. I think mine are a bit small. Mine was done on delicate as well and hung out to dry. I think I have two of those, both on the back side of the shirt - kidney area.

Thanks. I’m not concerned. I wouldn’t have known of others having the same occurrence had I not looked at the forum page. It’s a lovely shirt and as it’s a work shirt I’m LIVIN in it! When it goes through the wash again I’ll let you know how it gets on. Joe
