Fine Creek Leathers

Thought I would start a thread for FCL since I didn't see one. After trying on and wearing Josh @Warner 's well-worn and beautifully broken-in Virginia Beach Type II jacket yesterday for a bit, I broke down and ordered one for myself. It is not a style I would have thought to acquire since I tend toward more classic cafe racers or "classic collar" type rider's jackets but, after experiencing this live and seeing how the teacore evolves, I had to have one.
Hopefully will arrive by Saturday - probably not the best choice for an LA summer but can't wait to wear it out and about on cooler evenings.
I know there are other FCL fans here (looking at you @Max Power !).
-
Great thread idea @Manticore ! Also, looking very forward to more contributions here and of course your Type II.
In the meantime, some pics of my FCL Leon 2mm.
-
A fantastic jacket @Max Power ! Very glad you decided to keep it.
My Type II should arrive tomorrow, I’m stoked!
-
@Max Power I missed the definitive conclusion to your FCL/TFH leather jacket struggle. I thought you were swaying towards TFH? But maybe you kept both?! Either way I'm glad you kept this one as it is is utterly brilliant.
-
@neph93 Yeah, I kept both as I sold a lot of old stuff. As the FCL is much heavier I think I can get away with both nd I was going to come back to the FCL sometime anyway - the fit and aging is just too good.

Good man. IMHO, while both are beautiful the FCL was my favourite. I’d be very interested in trying one myself.
-
@neph93 it really is a beauty and its hard to believe that the leather might age so beautifully. Im really loiking forward to breaking it in. In case you're coming back to Berlin we could surely arrange a meetup. Unfortunately I can't make it to Gosport this year.
-
Next time I am at the Foundry I will try to snap some pics of Josh's jacket - the way the FCL leather ages and breaks in is really great.
My Type II arrived on Saturday evening but I forgot to take pics of it. I'm traveling now plus it's ballz hot so it's hanging in the closet. Will get a pic up once I'm home.

Ohhhh yes….
-
Finally it's cold enough to break it in.
-
So glad you kept hold of that one @Max Power It is really cleanly cut and a great fit.
-
Thanks @reuben it's a great piece and I can't wait for Evo. Just took the chance right now for a proper shot.
-
Is this the 2 mm version? That would be an 5.25 oz leather. Absolutely stunning @Max Power .
-
@Eisenherz yes it is
-
Great pics @Max Power and @Chap ! Glad to see the FCL jackets coming out to play.
I'm traveling at the moment but need to get some pics up wearing my Virginia Beach. I'm concerned I maybe went a size too large but not sure (can't get smaller size since it's now sold out at SE). When I tried on a fully broken-in jacket in the same size I thought it fit well. The new one feels a bit oversized in the upper chest area, especially toward the shoulder seams - like there is more leather than required if that makes sense. The shoulder width and sleeve length are fine. Overall length could be a tad shorter but not a big deal.
I haven't worn it at all yet given the weather so perhaps it's a matter of just wearing it often enough for the leather to conform a bit? I understand the Type II is supposed to be a boxy cut but just concerned that it may look a little off…
-
@Manticore I had the same problem with my FH jacket. But broken in the jacket is perfect and the leather drapes much better.

Great silhouette and shape @Chap
