IHJ-85-BLK - Waterproof Harrington-Style Windbreaker Jacket – Black
-
I’m contemplating the IHJ-85 BLK with a Type IV yellow/black Iron to the Bone patch or a Type I IH The Works patch over the left chest/heart area. Wondering if it will look good, or take something away from the Harrington Style. Thoughts?

I just received the IHJ-85-BLK in the mail today, and it really is an outstanding piece. I am now very tempted to find a Navy.
I often fall between sizes, and opted to size down. Thank you for the help @Chesson. The fit is perfect, and even received high praise from the missus.
10/10!

Just ordered the Small tag size. I’m 5 foot 9 and around 11 stone unclothed. Hoping it fits well. Went for the Good Art HLYWD button upgrade which I’m hoping is available. The jacket reminds me of the aftermath of Quadrophenia when there were loads of mods around. If it fits ok I’ll try and do some photos. An excellent idea to bring out a high quality Harrington. We are the mods!

Great article on Wiki outlining the history of the Harrington. It may be of interest to the forum that there’s a a couple of references on the popularity of the jacket in Japan and the “dense cotton count of the originals meant they already had this quality (water repellency) at a higher price point.” I’m not an expert on materials or weaving however a modern cotton production would certainly be interesting.
Looking at the modern G9 it’s now a 50/50 poly cotton mix. A classic design however looks a bit dated compared to the Iron Heart version in my opinion. The Tom Ford Quantum of Solace Harrington mentioned looked like a great interpretation however from memory it was close to £2,000. I couldn’t spend that on a Harrington!

Received the jacket today and I’m really pleased with it. The Raglan sleeves give it a pared back look adding to the overall Harrington style which I really like. Pimped it with the Good Art silver button which really stands out against the black backcloth. Photos are selfies taken with an iPhone so please excuse the quality. Need to upgrade to a full frame camera.

I think this is the same material as the drizzlers that were released two years ago. The technical qualities of the material is amazing. I live in northern Norway and picked up an oversized one. I wear it over heavy vests or hoodies in very low temps. The wind and rain resistant qualities are surprisingly good for a fabric with such a high cotton content.

Thanks to both replies. Nice material for sure and fits reasonably close to the body. It’s a very lightweight jacket so I’d say it’ll be ideal for spring and autumn. Reading the wiki article on the original Harrington it appears to have been a heavy cotton which was also water resistant. Not quite sure how they achieved that though. Hopefully I’ll be able to order a pair of IH-555-03 21oz superblack jeans next month if they aren’t sold out which should go quite well with this jacket.

Close fit is the traditional was of wearing it. SBG in the 555 would be perfect, you’re right. Good luck getting a pair.

Man I love this jacket! I’m saving to pick up a corduroy this Spring. Hopefully these will still be around this Fall or Spring 2021

Curious how this fits compared to the Storm Rider IH jacket, especially in the chest area.
I picked up the IH Storm Rider in medium. It fits me alright, but is a touch bulky. I see a couple 'larges' up for sale, for both the the black and navy IHJ-85. I'm thinking these will be too big, and I'll have to hold out for a medium or small, but curious to hear the opinions of those who have the jacket. Just don't see these crop up for sale often.
