IHJ-94 - Perforated Steerhide Café Racer Jacket - Black
-
Could you explain what pushes up the cost of this jacket, especially for a steer-hide jacket, which are usually cheaper than those from horse-hide. Are the perforations extremely labor intensive? Is the leather treated in a special way to qualify it as a technical jacket?
It's well overpriced. That's it.

Please elaborate.

I'd rather not. To each his own. Its business after all. I stick to Denim when it comes to Iron Heart.
-
So if it is each to his own, why are you being judgmental?
The vast majority of the population would say our denim is overpriced, but you are happy to buy that.
I truly believe in to each his own, so will not comment on peoples looks, style or what they like spending their money on, it's their businees, not mine.
I'd happily spend $1,000 on a fishing rod, but anything over 10 cents for a golf bat would be money wasted. Oh, and why spend $1,000 on a fishing rod when you can buy one from Asda for £10?

We make less margin on the IHJ-94 than we do on a pair of jeans, and I do not mean that to say we overprice our jeans either. We don't overinflate prices, we sell things at a fair price to turn a profit becasue we are a business. Our margin, and Haraki's margin is far lower than the norm for retail, we price things fairly, they just happen to cost a lot to make.

Overpriced? I guess it’s the usual top notch IH quality. I would say no… japanese leather manufacturers have their price and their stuff is usually worth it.
That’s overpriced:

I have a few questions regarding this jacket:
-
Is it already treated with a water repellent / leather protector? If not, should I treat it myself?
-
Is it safe to hang this on a wide-shouldered hanger. It's fairly light weight but also soft
-
When it comes time to condition this leather, how do you do it without getting cream stuck in the perforations
As a comparison, my IHJ-35 is extremely water resistant, the water simply beads up. I've kept it on a wide-shouldered hanger and there is no signs of stretching. It's 3 years old and shows no signs of needing conditioning.

Outstanding jacket @DrPat , congratulations on the fit and score!
-
Great photos and fit @DrPat ! I would love one myself but the P2P is a bit too snug for me. Reminds me of my old perforated Dainese racing suit.

- It'll be naturally water repellant to some extent, like the IHJ-35, but it has had no special water-proffing. It's full of holes so it'll leak anyway.
2)Yes, no problem
3)Use a spray or liquid, not a cream
