Just got some Redwing 2966 rebuilt by *Unsung. By far the nicest dudes... I was updated the entire way through the process in real time. Turnaround once the work started was about a week.
Removed toe bump
Resoled with Dr. Sole half soles.!
-
@Tyler-Durden wow. That’s awesome. What a result! I’m gonna reach out to them ASAP.
-
@Tyler-Durden do you find the boots more comfortable? I think the increased flexibility in the midsole, because of the half soles, would be so choice.

Well I haven't got them back yet but they were already fully broken in and comfortable before sending off. It was just time for new soles so decided to get a little extra work done. Will follow up with updates once I get them on.

IH-555s with a couple of Tricker`s two tone country boots.

@Motorhubro Really like the look of those…

This has probably been asked a million times before, but do denim stains come out easily on leather boots? I have a really nice pair of tan leather Lucchesse's coming in that I want to wear with my relatively new UHR's, but the denim bleed is scaring me.

2 weeks in and these are starting to get very comfy!

a little care and polish of my Iron Rangers
love this patina ! -
Red Wing 875 Moc Toes. Great boot with a strong „character“. Painful break in period of about a month but now they are super comfortable.
-
@Autorotate So I finally took them out for a spin.
The removal of toe bump has not only changed it aesthetically, but internally got rid of some of the dead space on the inside, giving me an overall better fit. Changing the heel stack / style, has also changed the feel on foot and stance of the boot, which has been noticeably more comfortable when standing and walking in them. Not too sure I can speak to the flex aspect but I suppose logically there is less rubber since it is now a half sole, and would assume it has to flex a bit more. Overall a great upgrade and are on par with the feel of my Lofgren engineers, but easier to get on and off, since these are already broken in.
Highly recommend @UnsungHouse for all upgrades / repairs.
They were great through the entire process, and have followed up to check in with me since I've received them back.

Yea man, after your last post on this thread, I shipped my boots right off.
Great comms so far with Unsung. As soon as they arrived I received an email. They are in good hands for sure.
I went with a green Dr Sole Half sole… my thinking is that it’ll be a neat flow of green, to brown to black. Mix in some Pisgah Range custom laces and I think I’ll be set.
Basically I had these awesome yet super simple PNW constructed boots sitting in the bottom of my closet not being worn. For a fee, I am hoping to breathe new life into them, and make me want to grab them more often.
LSS - recycle, re-use. Kill the consumer chain… sort of. Something like that. LOL.
