@GraemeE ,that 25 o'clock cover remind me of earlier Cream works , so psychedelic.
-
@steelydan absolutely agree

Yesterday this was 40 years old!!!! Blue Monday is still the best 12" ever IMO. It made a loss when released - the cover with it's diecut and having an inlay cost more to produce then they made on selling the record, hence future releases went to a normal cover and no inlay.

Got this on Saturday

@natehate I've only ever seen the US artwork for that police single
That one's awesome (if not oddly heavy for a band like them)
i believe, not 100% sure, but i remember reading this cover was recalled
wikipedia says
"The original single was banned by the BBC because of the controversial cover (an alternative cover was released in some places). As Sting described: "The reason they [the BBC] had a problem with "Can't Stand Losing You" was because the photo on the cover of the single had Stewart standing on a block of ice with a noose around his neck, waiting for the ice to melt."[9] Despite this, or perhaps because of the extra attention from the controversy, it became the group's first single to break the charts,[7] and has held a spot in their live sets ever since it was written. The photography on the controversial cover was by Peter Gravelle. " -
The blue vinyl copy of ‘Can’t Stand Losing You’ was originally part of a 7” six pack - I bought it on a school trip to London back in 1980!
