IHJ-49 - Split Steer Modified Type III Jacket - Black or Brown
-
I am new proud owner of this beautiful jacket. I have trouble buttoning the jacket. The holes and buttons seem very stiff. Is this normal? Any advice on how to button the jacket?
-
Same, same. Doesn't take too long for it to get easier. If I remember correctly, the button hole with the most material in the location takes the longest to wear in.
-
How does the fit on this jacket change over time? Does it get bigger or smaller? It fits pretty perfect new, so just want to judge how and if it will change overtime. Thanks!

Boom 🥳 family present for my 50th birthday on friday.

Yup, that's a winner. Sometimes wish I picked up the black one instead of brown, but they are both nice!

for sizing on the brown, did you guys stick to your western size(large for me), or did you go down a size? any sizing advice would be appreciated, really want to pick up one to use for all of fall/winter

@Jcaz6996 thank you for the reply! I have the same intentions, just a t-shirt. Time to wait for a restock

Any thoughts on maintenance for split steer leather jacket?
I have a black one arriving tomorrow, and I've never owned a suede jacket before.
What sort of conditioner would you use for a jacket like this?
It looks like Saphir makes a spray on Renovateur for suede that comes in neutral or black(also medium brown, dark brown, and navy). It's intended for boots, but i would expect it to work on something like this. -
I own one of these as well. Since I live in Southern California, it does not see a lot of rain and haven't had to do anything with it in the way of maintenance.
A couple of data points not directly related to this jacket, but maybe helpful. I do have rough out on a couple pairs of Wesco boots and they have seen some rain/weather. I use a suede brush from time to time and do not apply any treatment to them. They are holding up pretty darn well. Additionally, TJ at The Shop Vancouver has commented a couple times on how he takes care of his rough out chore shirts. He openly states that most of his leather and rough out jackets sees a lot rain. His approach is to maintenance is no fuss, do nothing and beat the shit out of it approach. Based on seeing the many many pictures and videos he posts of his gear, it looks like they are holding up well to the conditions with cool looking patina.
