Bought the blues boxset just because of lightning hopkins .
-
@steelydan you've been on a roll with your weekend buys
I'm curious as to what part of the world you are doing your shopping in

@Mizmazzle joyous nerd snorts

@Mizmazzle is that one of the newly re-issued Zevon albums you had mentioned?
-
@Mizmazzle yeah - they put out some great stuff
There was some drama with them over the last couple years about digital vs analog masters but I personally have never found any of their stuff lacking in audio quality -
@GraemeE yeah. I know they did release a couple albums that were digitally sourced. Think they were recorded that way and some people got a bit hoighty about it. Forget what albums those were.
I have a couple albums of theirs that were a bit disappointing. The Muddy Waters 1 step for example. But I’ve been really happy with the large majority of their albums.
Analogue Productions does a really nice job as well. That Jeff Beck album is an AP. I have the AP pressing of Wired. Another Jeff Beck and it’s insanely good. Can’t wait to clean these two and give ‘em a spin. Reports to come

Yes please.
I got a little overzealous with purchases and pre-orders the last week or 2 but on the bright side future Graeme will have some fun deliveries over the next few months
-
@Mizmazzle I remember when that news broke. Biggest buzz in the vinyl world in forever. Gnarly how a random record store owner/YTer exposed all that. Had me going through a rabbit hole for a bit haha

I don't want to jinx it but I still have reasonably good luck finding original 60s-70s stuff in good condition at antique shops and thrift stores.
The internet makes it almost impossible to be in the dark about what things are worth but there is one constant in this world....there will always be plenty of people (employees of said stores) who are really bad at their jobs.
I'm still feeling the joy of a few months back when I found og gram parsons, eno, j beck and byrds at a goodwill just north of Olympia WA

That MFSL shit was wild. Ultimately felt like I didn’t care because all of the pressings of theirs I have are among my very best sounding records. Seems like a lot of people feel the same way, cos the prices sure didn’t dip like I hoped . No luck getting a deal on the Costello reissue I’m missing.
Gonna have to pick up some of them Zevons.
