Bandcamp has a profile of the label Black Editions who have been reissuing a bunch of Japanese noise-rock from the 80s/90s originally on the P.S.F. label--Tokyo Flashback comp, White Heaven, High Rise, etc.

@SKT I somehow missed this one!
This Year's Model is really among his very best. I think basically all of the best stuff was in the MFSL reissues, but there have been some later releases that have been very good as well — I love how he's just a restless, hungry guy who just has to keep making music. If you've ever heard him talk, it's pretty clear he's just nuts about it. Inspiring to see someone who's never stopped being excited.
I think my favorite records of his are Trust and Imperial Bedroom. "New Lace Sleeves" on the former is, in my opinion, really just one of the best songs ever. And IB was sort of his attempt at Sgt Pepper. Oy, "Man Out of Time" and "Beyond Belief" just slay me. Flawless.
Anyway! I promise one of these days I'll take some pics. Anybody who knows me on here knows I'm pretty terrible about participating in that respect, haha...

Had a little record cleaning/ listening party last night. Thought it’d be fun to share my less than hi-tech approach.
Edge brush with homemade cleaning solution
Distilled water rinse then air dry
Place record in a new sleeve city inner and jacket in a new outer sleeve
Pack a bowl, pour a bourbon, and listen and enjoy!!

@Mizmazzle the UMO cover version of Shakedown from Day of the Dead is pretty awesome
-
@popvulture I’m going to check out both of those Elvis albums. Thanks for letting me know…and get some pics up when you can!
-
@Mizmazzle Nice!
-
@setandsetting I've always felt like the song Shakedown Street is equivalent to Neil Youngs Sample and Hold off Trans
Telling a die hard fan that either of those songs is your favorite is a sure way to start an argument
I happen to love both songs
-
@GraemeE I mean Trans is top 5 Neil albums...
-
@setandsetting I can't argue with that
-
@Mizmazzle dude....this is totally something I would do
The low tech system refined over the yearsThe only thing missing is a significant other in the background rolling their eyes during the process
-
@GraemeE it’s like we’re living the same life bro!!! Haha. Actually, my lady really digs the whole vinyl thing. When we first started dating I wooed her with late nights drinking wine and listening to records.
It’s more the wearing of 25oz denim jeans and heavy wabash shirts to lounge around the house in after work she rolls her eyes at.
-
@Mizmazzle don't get me wrong my wife loves records (and denim for that matter)
She just approaches both like a regular /well adjusted human

A couple pics — first, the collection in its swelling corner of my living room. There's another one of these Ikea shelves behind me that's also full of records. I'm out of space with this current setup, been thinking of having a friend build me some nice modern ply shelves, preferably taller so I'm not having to stoop all the time (old, shitty back).
Turntables are a Music Hall MMF-5 and a 1200. Integrated Amp's a Rega Elicit R, speakers B&W 683. The latter are ok but I've had them about 15 years and would like to looks for a new pair.
Lastly, a record I just recently finally got around to picking up — an old fave from my college years. Tracking one down on Discord for a decent price wasn't too hard.
