IH-888S-21ib - 21oz Selvedge Denim Medium/High Rise Tapered Cut Jeans - Ind/Blk
-
Just picked these up as my first pair of Iron Heart denim. Can’t wait to put some nice wear on them. I tried going with the 555 cut, but I couldn’t even get them past my thighs. These fit much much better. It’s a bit tight around the waist, but fits great everywhere else. This 21 oz. is ridiculously soft, so I have no doubt that the waist will stretch out after some time. I’m not the best at taking pictures, but I’ll try to upload some for reference.
On a side note, is this style not that popular? There’s not much action going on in this thread.

@caithangkhanh These are the most popular cuts by sales posted in July 2022. The data covers the period (Jan 2019 to approx. Jul 2022) (https://www.ironheart.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=16635.msg743186#msg743186) from @Alex

@goosehd Thanks for the info! That’s definitely interesting. As much as I wanted to make the 555 work, it could never work for me.
-
@caithangkhanh For me personally, it’s not what’s trendy and in style, it’s what works for me and is comfortable. The 666 and 634’s are my personal favourites as they work for my body shape and how I like to wear my jeans.

I’m really enjoying this cut. And the 21 oz. denim is the softest denim over ever handled.

Looking good there. Excellent 888 fit.

Thanks! I appreciate that.

Been wearing these pretty much every day since I got them. The waist has stretched out to a comfortable size and the denim has only gotten softer since the first wear. I was very surprised with how quickly these are fading. I’m seeing some electric blues pop up in some high-wear areas. These are gonna be fun to fade.

Another quick update on these. I’ve been continuing to wear them pretty much every day. I play with my toddler quite often so the knees are showing the most wear.

I have a proper battle going on right now between these 21ib and upcoming 21od, in my regular 777 or trying out the 888. Don't know if I could even fit the 33's in an 888 with that waist. My actual waist at the slimmest spot is about 33, but my 777's stretch to nearly 36 with the low rise.
Anybody have advice on making the switch from 777 to 888? A proper fitting 777 generally leaves a bit too much space in the waist. Would like some more space throughout though. 777 rise is risky when bending and I might have thighs larger than the cut intended. I'm a bit stumped, please help!

@WhiskeySandwich I recently switched from 777 to 888. I will never look back to 777 and will stick to 888 from now on. I love the extra room everywhere and the high rise along with the narrowish leg opening. This is especially the case with heavy denim. I am wearing my 21ozib 777 today to work and feel like I don't have the room in the seat area since I am so used to 888 now. I need that room bro. Hope that helps.
-
@Oaktavia that does help. I guess there's probably no way to know for sure until I try one out. I think the 777 is great for me like 10 years ago lol. Or would be great in a SST, but I may have to try out the 888 this time because I'm def putting a lot of strain on the crotch of these.
The 888 seems to be like a quarter inch looser everywhere except the waist, which is taller and way smaller. Sounds like if I can stretch a waistband to comfort, then I'll be golden everywhere else, cuz I still want em fairly slim.
-
@WhiskeySandwich I have seen dudes on here style the 888 and still look slim. I don't do that, as I size up at least one size because I prefer mine looser. If I were to go true to waist, they would likely be what you are after. There are also other folks on here that have more experience with 888 but I'm not exactly sure who to refer you to.
-
@Oaktavia Thanks man. I think they'll be the ticket. Once I start obsessing over numbers and stretch factors I start realizing there are too many variables that just go out the window as soon as you try something on. Test fit is really the only way to know for sure. On paper though, I think the 888 could be good for me.
-
Okay - I pulled the trigger on some of these 888-21ib and dude am I psyched. Can't wait to try this cut, but I'm a little nervous about the tiny waist. The rest of the measurements are only a tad looser than my 777's and that should be perfect. Only one way to find out how they'll fit!
-
@WhiskeySandwich I sincerely hope they fit and that you dig 'em man. I am wearing my 77721ib to work today. Anything indigo/black is awesome. Stoked to see what you think in a few days.
-
@Oaktavia Thanks my dude!! I know for a fact the waist will be tight AF at first but Bailey gave me the bigger waist of the two remaining - should work out. I'm sure they'll stretch enough based on what I hear, and what I've got out of my 142bb and my 18oz. Honestly didn't like the dark IB with its bright contrast stitching at first, but your pair showed me how killer they look together once they're worn. Def ready to be back in some heavies.
-
@WhiskeySandwich They will lighten up and fade for sure, as you've seen. The flagship 21oz definitely stretches, but I'm not sure if this is the same type of 21oz denim @Alex I think told me one or the other.
Anyway, they soften up a ton too, as I noticed when I put them on today. They really don't even feel like heavyweights after 140 wears which is where I'm currently at.
Looking forward to seeing fit pics from you.
-
@Oaktavia very psyched, if they're even remotely as soft as my UB 21oz, I'll love em. I'm sure they'll stretch enough, I've not had a pair of denim yet that hasn't given me 1-2 inches, depending on what's needed.
I thought this was the exact same as OG/flagship 21oz, except the weft is sulphur dipped. Which could add a little initial crunch, maybe slow a little breathing, but basically be the same. Thought I read that, anyway.

@WhiskeySandwich I can't remember but now I need to know...
