IH-526PJ - 21oz Selvedge Denim Modified Type III Jacket - Indigo

@mjunderw00d hey man. Nah, just luke warm water for around 30-45 mins. The whole Jacket shrunk a bit but not much in length..
-
@Fades-for-future very good, I've had it for a year but I've worn it very little due to the sleeves being too large. I'll try soaking it at least I'll wear it more often. Thanks
-
@Luijim78 was the same with mine and i got to much stuff to wear good luck with the soak, hope yours will turn out great and fit like a glove
-
@Fades-for-future thanks so much friend... fingers crossed and we'll see
-
@Luijim78 for sure mate, post some fit pics i also need to do that...
-
Fit pic, needs to soften up but feels great....

I just purchased this jacket again from James Dant. The one I posted a few years back, I gave to my nephew to help him break free from the North face virus. I think perhaps the pattern has changed? Shoulders have more slope (like an a-2) and the sleeves seem fuller. Still my favorite IH piece. For comparisons sake here is the 526pj from maybe 5 or 6 years ago:
And here’s the jacket, day one received yesterday:
I look forward to the fall to break it in properly. Rather than soak it, I think I’ll just use a spray bottle to help shape and mold certain areas, collar and sleeve etc.

Uncle of the year award!

@ton312 “the North Face virus” might be my new favorite quote
-
@mjunderw00d LOL. It’s real though. First leaf falls and everybody here turns into Han Solo with a navy blue north face “alpha dad” vest. I can’t let that happen to a family member.
-
@Fades-for-future Soaked for 40 minutes at 30/40 degrees, and worn damp to fix some creases, it seems that the sleeves are a little less wide. Thanks for the advice friend... tonight and tomorrow I'll be able to say for sure
-
@Luijim78 great, keep wearing

Just managed to snag a second hand one of these in a ‘46’ (XXXL?). Apparently bought direct from IH a few years ago and spent most of its time in the back of a cupboard. Wish me luck, hoping to report back with good news on this essential wardrobe garment…
@ton312 spray bottle approach sounds like a good shout that I’ll likely get on board with.
-
Any ETA on restock on this one?
-
Hardly worn second hand one arrived recently.
Took a gamble on the size but it feels comfy and seems to be able to accommodate various shirts / UHFs, so that’s the main tick in the box for me.I’m only acquainted with the 19oz Lefty Trucker so this feels like a pyjama top in comparison! I love this denim.
Fit wise, does this look okay? It’s a 46 (XXXL?) and I’m an XXL in shirts/UHFs across the board. I don’t like ‘fitted’ clothes (more to do with the feel, rather than the look) - so there is always the ‘size up?’ question (insecurity?) in the back of my mind…..
As a lanky lad who is a bit out of proportion the modified dimensions help a great deal!!
-
@long_john86 I think that fits perfect! Think going up a size would make the chest measurement too big and it would too wide?
-
@long_john86 Looks good imo. Arms are a tad short still, but the rest looks spot on. Can you close all buttons, do you still have some room? I‘m an XXL in shirts and an XXXL in Type 3s as well, so I wouldn‘t worry about ‚sizing up‘.
-
Thanks guys - here are some photos with it buttoned up. @DeeDee85 good point re chest measurement!
Do you need to take into account any noticeable future shrinkage on this one when assessing the initial fit?
