I’m here for the progress
-
@68degreesorless gonna take some time to listen to that one. I do love some prog rock!
-
@Mizmazzle I'm stoked for you! Once you hear Fuller's trombone, get ready to blast off into jazz fidelity heaven
-
@Mizmazzle sounds like a pretty good Saturday if you ask me!
-
@Mizmazzle what's your next target\s?
-
@GraemeE listening not to Blue Train. Incredible!!
There’s a couple Grant Green albums as well as Bobby Hutcherson albums I’d like to grab soon.
Stylistically, I love the music on Somethin’ Else. Cannonball Adderly is someone I’d like to explore more. Any recommendations in that vein?
-
@Mizmazzle earlier cannonball I like sharpshooter and bohemia
If you can hang with him into the 70s black messiah amd Phoenix have some jams
-
@Mizmazzle closest to that Adderly album is Miles Davis Kind of Blue but I assume you’ve heard that.
-
Coltrane Giant Steps, Bill Evans Trio Sunday at the Village Vanguard and Waltz for Debby might be up your alley too @Mizmazzle
-
I know ive beat this horse before but this album feels like it belongs in any well rounded jazz collection even though it's contemporary

On top of McLains reccs, I'd also peep Shelly Manne and his Men at the Blackhawk. He has a handful of them recorded. Similar swing and groove that Cannonball had on that album. Plus they're live albums - live jazz is undefeated @Mizmazzle
-
@mclaincausey yup! I know it’s the most sold jazz album of all time…for good reason. I love that one for sure!
-
@Mizmazzle almost the same lineup and period, hence the similarity
