@WhiskeySandwich What did you use to dye it black?
-
My current rotation.. two from Luke's Custom Belts (Germany) and one Vintage Works (Japan)
-
@maxximum Fiebing’s acrylic leather dye. It worked great until I started buffing it, which they recommended lol. Water stripped the surface coat off, but the top leather retained some pigment.
-
@WhiskeySandwich weird. Never worked with acrylic dye before. But isn't that essentially just paint and does not penetrate into the leather?
I have some experience with alcohol based dyes that really penetrate deep into the leather and even come out on the other side off the leather is 1mm or so.
The India ink I used in the belt above is water based and does not penetrate deep, but it penetrates at least the top layer. -
Anyone here have a tasteful solution for belts that are a little too long? I have two very nice Momotaro belts that I’m on the second innermost hole and there’s quite a bit of excess hanging out. I know I could cut it, they have a nice imprint on the tip so it would be a little heartbreaking to cut off. I refuse to allow myself to get any bigger lol.
I was thinking of a silver money clip kinda deal to keep it secure and not flopping around, just haven’t found anything tasteful yet. Any other ideas?

@nrtphotos I have a belt and a couple wallets from this dude and if I recall correctly, he does custom stuff too. Great quality for the money. If you email him he could probably send you one of the belt loops that are removable on his belts and you could just slide it on where needed. Or use something like this if you do t wanna cut it.

@nrtphotos can you show us some photos?

Iron heart belt IHB-07 worn almost every day for about 3.5 years, still as good as new. I conditioned it one time with mustang oil but it didn’t need it and still doesn’t. One pic with flash and one without.

@Mizmazzle that looks incredible! Thank you for sharing!

@Jett129 this one os from Bweiss leather. Horween leather

@Jett129 i really like this belt a lot! And the way it ages is really satisfying

I'm considering buying a good quality, deep and rich brown horsehide (or cowhide if need be) belt. It should have a medium to relatively narrow width, maybe teardrop shaped holes and silver hardware. Any suggestions?
-
@cityofdelusion I have belts from B.Weiss and Pigeon Tree leather and would give a slight edge to B.Weiss. Also Seabee who is on The Forum does really good work from what I’ve seen and heard.

@Jett129 Thanks for the suggestions. I should've mentioned that the seller should be located in the EU (which may admittedly narrow the options down a bit) since I don't want to pay additional import fees, shipping etc.
