I have been blessed to spend my life in a city with a decent jazz radio station with passionate ( if not obsessive) djs who like to include little snipits of info with their selections.
That's been my avenue of discovery for the most part

Finally found time for some records!
Look what I found on the shelves..It sounded a little off, which is odd because it’s a Japanese pressing. But after looking at the label again - I was hella wrong!
Had no idea it was a Spanish pressing. What a nice surprise! Don’t know how I didn’t spot that when I first picked this up a few years ago.

But can you imagine if Franco was a huge Art Pepper fan?
If Paul Ryan can be a huge Rage Against the Machine fan any level of cognitive dissonance is possible

Guys, this threat has revived my more than 40y old record collection. Thanks for that! It's now in regular use again and growing. But one thing I've never had a good solution for, even when it was in the few 100s, is sorting. Alphabetical, chronological, by genre?
How do you sort your record collection?
(probably this has been over-discussed many times, still I'm interested in your opinions)

alphabetical by what @Tago-Mago title, artist, band, composer? that's what leads us to classical right @GraemeE how do you do with Jazz?

classical
With classical it's hard not to want to file a performance by someone like Glenn Gould under his name as opposed to the composer since his personal approach to playing a peice is so specific/recognizable
