@GraemeE that cover makes me think of Mister Magic by Grover Washington, Jr
-
@Aetas - yeah, and i find this edition as a documented proof of how good was Gil Norton for Pixies. Listening to demo tapes and the final product its clear that it wasnt just adding dynamics and studio magic to the sound - but focus on the songs and how to make them better.

@GraemeE ahh that's nice to know.
I keep a little music journal, as sometimes I don't fully appreciate why I like something so much until I take the time to articulate how something makes me feel.
Often I'm conscious that what I write is a little derivative, and subconsciously influenced by other reviews and commentary I may have heard, but that one came from the heart, so I'm glad you appreciated it
-
@mclaincausey my assumption is that wasn't by accident
-
@GraemeE agreed

Any RSD fans out there? I’ve never followed it too much. But just found a cool little record store around the corner from my house. Owner kid was all stoked they got RSD vendor approved. Thought I’d pop over there and take a peek. I see a couple Cannon Ball sets that look rad. Poppin and Burnin…

Got an eye out for the Yusuf Lateef album. It can be a bloodbath in Denver to get some of the releases at least at places like Angelo’s.
-
@mclaincausey said in Wax Treasure (Vinyl):
Yusuf Lateef
I was looking at that one, shelly manne live in the pnw and gandalf
-
@mclaincausey totally. That’s why I don’t dig on RSD much either. Not fun being mobbed in with a bunch of people.
-
@Mizmazzle for me the crowds sort of defeat one of the main draws of going into a record store in the first place....being able to unwind and de-stress

@GraemeE we listened to this album driving from Bryce Canyon to Navajo Nation starting from the stroke of midnight. Few cars during that trip, just our company, the music, the stars, and the blanketing darkness. I’ve heard it prior but my friends were floored. “I felt like I left my body”
