Just finished my Monday Run just taking it easy never look at pace just go off feeling few inclines was hoping the route was 5miles but it ended at 4.5 miles my longest run for years.
Question: for a beginner trying to get out 3 times a week what program would you recommend?
And does everyone use KM’s ? I prefer Miles would rather know what my mile pace is instead of a KM.
Roughly how long until you start to see progress?
Apart from my very first run of the year all my runs are around the same pace my quickest 7:55 when a guy raced me around the river front in a mobility scooter for 3.5 miles
And 8:10/mi - 8:30/mi on average for all my other runs .

@Jcaz6996 This is where I found the plan that I'm following for the marathon and maybe you'll find something that is close to what you're looking for.

Edit: They seem to make it subscription only now. I think if you search for it, there is a way to get around that...

@goosehd thanks for the link, I’ve been following along and the thread is inspirational for sure.
I do orange theory workouts a few times a week these days. my running has improved dramatically and that piece of the workout has become my favorite. We were talking this past weekend about maybe doing a 5k, I’ve done them before years ago but doing a proper training will be key this time around.

I struggle with the "getting out on the road" part of running so much more than the actual activity itself. Once I'm 10 mins in and warmed up, I really enjoy it. The challenge is getting started
Agee mate it’s definitely easier now the evenings are lighter, can’t see myself sticking to it when the nights draw in. Tough as it is with a 4.30am Alarm and home @7.00pm .
But when you get out do you generally have a route you run ?
Maybe @AdamC Can share his weekly training ? with a park run PB only a few weeks back

@Nik yes bud a good 10 years ago now.
I haven’t got the time to arrange meet ups with runs etc with the hours I work I literally fit it in when I can ..I’ve pretty much always trained on my own apart from back in the day a Tuesday speed session with the team and a long run on a Sunday.

First injury this week (in a very long time): I've been increasing my step cadence and stride length...Knee feels like crap and have had to take the last two days off. Doing the rotation of compression, ice, heat, elevation, and NSAID's. Everything was feeling great until it wasn't.
Probably taking the rest of the week off and reevaluate at the start of next week.

South Downs Way 100 mile ultramarathon yesterday
17 hours 44 minutes
18th
My wife Clara and my friends Dave and Jon crewed for Doug and I. Such a special day filled with ups and downs. Huge to hit the goal of 18 hours and most of all to have the support of crew. Couldn’t have done it without them.
