Wax Treasure (Vinyl)

Bought this LP second hand, round about ten years after its release in 1977.
Heard it a lot over the years.
Iggy is presenting the
‘Funtime’ needle gem tonight.. -
New discovery for me. Now maybe my favorite blues vocalist ever.

With one of the last tunes played before summer holidays, the Crimson King tried to balance my needle. Two articles with music linked …
First from Musicaficionado, which is much better than the blog name let expect.
Second is from Loudersound.
Perhaps one of this tunes, spinning round in my head for decades now.
Oh boy oh boy, glad holidays are coming ️. -
@Aetas Cool album for sure---saw him during "The Idiot" tour in Santa Monica.
Great show and Bowie was playing piano in the backup band no billing--was unreal -
Couldn't pass this one up at goodwill today

Happy Days when the postie calls with a record on its actual release day!
The new one from Johnny Blue Skies AKA Sturgill Simpson - and it truly is golden! -
@IH-GARY I’m so psyched to check this one out. Sturgill is the feckin best.
-
@popvulture He’s so musically diverse! Some of the tracks remind me of early Robert Palmer.
This has just dropped on YouTube
-
@GraemeE happy to help!
edit: And just as an aside, I vividly remember the first time I listened to that album. I had just graduated from college and was driving my Pontiac Grand Am from Columbia, MO to Springfield, MO for a new job. I had a sweet six disc cd changer in the trunk and had to drive through a January snow storm at a snail’s pace…totally immersed in that music for 4 hours. It remains one of my all time favorites

@GraemeE @SKT haha y’all this was a great exchange to stumble upon.
I think Being There is probably my favorite Wilco record. I remember hearing it for the first time, too. I worked at a record store, and the older guys there were my educators. One of them told me to check it out, said it was impressive, so my expectations were high from the start. It just took “you’re back in your old neighborhood, cigarettes taste so good, you’re so misunderstood” to forever hook me. Then it just gets better and better. Sometimes AGIB, YHF, or SBS will eclipse Being There for a moment in terms of what I think is my fave or the best, but the latter will always be the dearest to me.
Gonna put that shit on right now.
