Another self serving request.....
Anyone a fan of Dirty Three that would be willing to sherpa me into their catalog with a mix on either Spotify or Tidal of the essential tunes?I mainly know their production work as well as members involvements with Nick Cave but would like to get more familiar .

Somewhere deep in this thread, I posted the comparison of Opeth’s English and Swedish version of this glorious record @Tago-Mago
„The poison is in the tail“- 'In cauda venenum'
Thanks for bringing this up again! -
@Aetas I love both versions, and I think anyone who has only listened to one of the two is missing out because imo some songs work better in Swedish, some better in English. Lovelorn Crime I prefer in English for example, but Allting tar slut in Swedish. Agreed on the gloriousness of the record!
To add: of the „new“ Opeth this and pale communion are my favourites, but Blackwater Park will always be their magnum opus for me

Bought ‚Deliverance‘ when it came out, because of the producer Steve Wilson.
Didn’t get it and it’s definitely not made for poor quality car audio.
For that reason I missed out ‚Damnation‘. What a mistake, I could luckily patching years later. @Tago-Mago -
New Sturgil Simpson 'Passage Du Desir' is so damn good.
Heartbreaking yet hopeful in the all the right ways, with musical nods to everything he's done in the past.
A personal highlight;
The release almost slipped by me as it released under the psydonym 'Johnny Blue Skies', but I guess this is just Sturgil's way of getting around the fact he said he'd only ever release five albums

@T4920 Did you catch this banger featuring JBS last year?

Tons of new music in queue
Finally got to Hackney Diamonds by the Stones and it’s anything but hackneyed. Great stuff 6 decades in
Sturgill is Sturgill. Which is not to say it sounds the same as anything else he’s done so much as to say it’s excellent.
Phish’s new one is good; better on second listen with phones
Love the new King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard single and keenly await the remainder of the album
Billy Strings live one is playing now; so far so great
ORB, STS9, and when the rest of the album drops Toro y Moi all in queue among others. Overwhelming time to be a music lover.

First time listening to this album today. I’m hooked!
-
@IH-GARY man this just threw me for a major mind fuck. I was like, that dude in the tux sure sounds like Sturgil but no way he’s aged so much!! It almost looks like Sean Penn…then I googled it. Haha.
Cool song. Like to see an artist like Sturgil lending his vocal talents to broad genres like that. Dude is so damn talented.
-
@Mizmazzle For sure I would never have listened to Diplo if Sturgill had not stretched his talents to this track/genre - the Diplo ‘Country’ albums are well worth a listen, great for the gym!
There is some discussion as to whether it’s Sturgill riding the mechanical bull in the video!By the way, the track is a 10 year old Bedouin Soundclash tune - another awesome band!
-
I like many electronics artists and songs, and a lot of non-pop country. While I will always admire Sturgill’s openness to try new things, in this case for me the two go together like bananas and asparagus
When I saw him touring “with” Johnny Blue Skies, I searched to familiarize myself, not understanding it was a pseudonym for him. This was at the time the only track, and I was thinking “yeah maybe we skip the opener.”

I discovered this dude years ago and revisited today to find that he is still awesome. Icelandic metal/punk drummer turned neo-classical multi-instrumentalist.
