This text snapshot from my daughter could belong in the parenting or music thread but it's a little hyper specific.
I feel proud that my 11 year old is trying to learn about outsider art/60s garage bands even if they are barely listenable.

@GraemeE it’s this sort of thing that makes me wanna have kids. Conversely, I also have fears of “what happens if my kid is really into modern country?”

@Mizmazzle i usually do 2-3 days a week in my home office where my collection and turntable are - that's when 90% of my total weekly record listening happens
When I'm at my desk at the "official" office it's all spotify and earbuds

I think your biggest fear should be what if my kid isn’t into music. My son casts a pretty wide musical net and has turned me on to a lot of music that I would ,otherwise, never heard. While I don’t like a lot of it,I’m always eager to hear what he’s listening to.

@Jett129 - 100% agree! i also dont like all the music my kids are into, but maybe thats just old man's dislike for modern pop/trap music (which all sound trivial and plain stupid to me). on the other hand i am happy that they are into some great new stuff and they as well liked some of my musical choices. kids are great

@Tago-Mago The best thing he ever turned me on to was Linkin Park, and there have been some super fast techno pop anime kind of things that I couldn’t name or listen to for more than 30 seconds.
