What I’m wondering though, is if two pair (888 & 555) do happen to have the same thigh, knee and leg opening measurement, (but possibly a different tag size) would the leg be the same in the two pairs or would the 555 somehow still manage a slimmer profile even if those measurements were the same?
No, if those measurements were the same, they would be the same......I've never been able to get a pair of 555's on but have no problems with the 888's, so I'm sort of not sure I understand how they could be the same, but perhaps I am misunderstanding the question......

@Giles I’m sure I’m not explaining myself well…I’m going to try and start over.
I’d like to get a better understanding of leg patterns so that when I read the size charts I can best predict what the leg profile will look like. Know that I have lots of experience with my own preferences and how to measure, I’m looking to fine tune my measurement reading skills.
I currently have two pairs of XHS (888 and 555) but the former is a tag 32 the latter a 33. However, the thigh, knee and leg opening are almost exactly the same. However, the 555 still feel and look slimmer.
I guess I’m wondering, if we remove tag size and waist size from the equation, will matching thigh, knee, and hem produce the same leg profile? Or is there some pattern magic that can still shape the leg differently even if thigh, knee and hem are equal?

@Mizmazzle I wonder if the rise has something to do with it, I had two pairs of 555s-19L with the same thigh measurements as my XHS but couldn’t get them to work for me so had to sell them . Super tight in the thigh and a lower front and rear rise measurement .

@Mizmazzle. I think hip measurements matter also but we don't account for them. Also where the taper starts from will make a difference of how the thigh will feel.

@Mizmazzle This is the one I was trying to find from IHUK: https://www.ironheart.co.uk/content/cut-comparison

@goosehd
Ok… that’s awesome! I have never seen that before!! -
@goosehd to really boil down what I’d like to understand and be able to do is say, if I know I love my thigh, knee and hem to be X,Y,Z…can I achieve that leg profile in a different cut with a different waist/ tag if I move up or down on the size chart.
Right now I’m looking at the UHRs in 888 and 555. Two cuts I have jeans in already. But really I want that perfect fit that is somewhere in between where those fall classically. That’s where those cut comparison charts fall a bit short for the understanding im trying to develop in this particular case. However, excellent they are for general understanding of how the cuts fit overall.

@Mister_Brue what you’re saying makes perfect sense. And you’re 100% right. Having had both cuts should solidify my thinking. The thing is my 555s are the XHSbb and by all accounts fit more in line with an 888 on that particular iteration. Which I’d have to agree with too. Not nearly as skinny as 555s I’ve tried on in stores. So essentially, I’m trying to replicate the way my XHSbb fit in some UHRs

@Mizmazzle The answer, my friend, might be a pair of 888 UHR taken to the tailor

What size do you wear @Mizmazzle
